Illegal alien arrested for possession of Uzi

APPLE VALLEY,CA. • An illegal alien gang member who had previously been deported was arrested Thursday for possessing an Uzi assault weapon and leading deputies on a short foot pursuit, officials said. According to officials on the scene, a search of Jose Hernandez’s, 33, vehicle led to the discovery an Uzi machine gun and a high-capacity magazine.

Investigators learned that Hernandez is a convicted felon and gang member who had been deported after his last stint in prison but unlawfully re-entered the United States, Apple Valley station officials said. SMASH officials arrested Hernandez for possession of an assault weapon, parole violation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement violations and participation in a street gang. Hernandez is also under federal investigation for illegal re-entry into the country and being a convicted illegal alien in possession of an assault weapon.
