I'll be damned...

I honestly think Mitt just lost the GE. The base of the Republican party just lost most of the people under 50 years old, you have about 2 elections until the Republican party is literally dead due to actually getting old and dying.

Bye Republican party, here's us looking to the future that you’re not in.

I have been reading wistful reports about the death of the Republican Party ever since Nixon resigned.

Okay, see ya. Thanks for playing.

Oh the game ain't over... That's where the GOP made the mistake, they played their hand as if this were the election to end all elections and it cost them the future base of their party.

I wish there were like 4-5 viable parties...have the traditional Dem and Rep occupying the middle ground and branch off from there...Socialists on the left, Tea Party on the right, and Libertarians represented as well...Don't know where exactly they fit in on the left/right scale, as some of their platform is very liberal and other parts are ultra conservative.

But, I think that those five would represent a very good cross section of America.

Has a third party ever challenged them this much to the point where they change their rules to try to assure votes for themselves?

Edit: Oh I'm sorry... Ron is a republican. Has the party ever fought it's voting base so hard to assure that they got their man in the past?

Correct, but it took time for the Republican party to lose all appeal to youth voters and then die off. That is happening now. As the article said, and I too have was at the Seattle primaries in 2008... Most over 60+ were McCain voters, anyone younger was there for Paul. Here in Eugene we had a Republican meeting, the speakers couldn't stop saying how this was the largest crowd they have ever seen, 65 year olds all supported Mitt/Newt/retards... everyone 50 and younger (the bigger part of the crowd) was there for Paul.

What you're talking about is a rejection of the Republican party, what I'm talking about is it actually dying.

Robin Koerner: Ron Paul Won

Delegates from Nevada tried to nominate Mr. Paul from the floor, submitting petitions from their own state as well as Minnesota, Maine, Iowa, Oregon, Alaska and the Virgin Islands. That should have done the trick: Rules require signatures from just five states. But the party changed the rules on the spot. Henceforth, delegates must gather petitions from eight states.

*laughs*

Boy I tell you want... I think the republicans are TRYING to lose... lol

I guess they dont understand why Romney wasnt picked last time. Or maybe they do...

Are you so deluded that you seriously believe Ron Paul is a challenge to them?

He's an annoyance. A shrill whiny little bitch. Nothing more.

Santorum was a challenge. Even Newt the fat bastard hypocrite was a challenge. But Paul? BWA-HA-HA-HA!

I just find it crazy that Mitt supporters are making it a "us and them" within their own party. How do they expect to win with a divided party?

Now granted... Ron Paul supporters are the minority... They are. Sorry, that's truth and I can recognize that. However... It's a big enough percentage that they can't win without them.

Ron Paul supporters don't support him because he is republican. Paul supporters don't need you. They don't even want you republicans. However... Republicans need them to win. Sorry... that's also the truth and I can recognize that.

*shrugs* no skin off my back if you think you can win without us.

I don't think you understand... It's the votes he would take, even 3-4% is devastating to a candidate in the GE. Oh yeah, the 2 other guys you mentioned, they couldn't raise the money, they have ZERO base and scare the crap out of anyone that is not ultra right wing. Santorum is so far religious right that even religious people are like..... hmmm..... MMMMMmmmmm....No thanks.

Libertarians are the Code Pink of the right.

*shrugs* I'm good with that. Opinions vary.

I still think of myself as an independent who agree with Libertarians at the moment. But it's certainly not insulting to me to be called one.

Hey, I'm not voting this year, either. My GOP has been hijacked by retards, liars, hypocrites, and psychos. They deserve Obama to win.

That does not change the fact the Libertarians have no class.

As much as I like Ron Paul on most issues, he's off the rails when it comes to foreign policy... and a majority of Americans get it. He needs to just go away already. We don't want him.

Actually, I think Ron Paul is spot on when it comes to foreign policy. The problem with him is that he takes it too far. While we should not be getting involved with every single conflict going on in the world. I think people rightfully fear that Ron Paul would not get involved even when we should. Honestly, I think Ron Paul's biggest downfall is this idea that we should be back on the gold standard and we need to get rid of the Federal Reserve. Most economists not only disagree with this but believe it would bury us.

He should run as an independent. Even as a Democrat, I am weary of the two party system.

As a democrat, I'm sure you would like to splinter the republican party....no doubt about that. :eusa_whistle:
In fairness... It's not democrats splintering the republican party.

In all fairness.....my bad, I was meaning to say that as a democrat they would like to see the republican party splintered.

Then you are a fuck'n retard. You can write in any damn candidate you want, hell... Go to the voting booth and hand back a completely blank voting card as a demonstration of your disdain I don't care... But if you won't stand up for what you believe in you aren't worth talking to.

Actually a competing currency would be enough for Ron. He's said so many times. It doesn't have to be gold. But that is beside the point really.
