If your kids turn out gay, would you kill them as Bible/Islam imply?

So if, say, my religion (just say), taught that being straight is wrong (our "prophet" tells us that), and that being gay is the only correct way

I think people would smell a rat, unless they were nihilistic in the extreme.
In other words they would NOT abide by that religious ruling....just like gays should NOT be expected to follow the religious ruling of Christianity (that gay sex is wrong.)
Jesus gave only two commandments. Neither of which was being anti-gay. Are you gay, Joy4Uall ?

what two commandments did Jesus invent?
Love God and love your neighbour.

He was quoting Hillel. Hillel lived in Jerusalem---was a famous Talmudist and
INCESSANTLY quoted both then and now. ----He died just about the same
time that Jesus is said to have been born. Quotations from Hillel float around
LOTS amongst some Christian circles. You probably heard them but did
not know THE SOURCE. The little bit of Hebrew I know-----comes largely from
a trick conceived of by my Hebrew teacher-----he had us memorize "sayings"
Lots of organizations of jewish students are named for Hillel and some schools.
He would have been a registered democrat if he had been born in the USA the
year I was born-------Ie. he would have been a democrat before the donkey
got pixilated. I do not recall his making a comment on homosexuality---but
there is no doubt that he would have been entirely against executing them

1) Since Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi, it's not surprising he quotes from the Torah, the Talmud or other Rabbis.

2) FYI Hillel died 10AD. Jesus was born 4BC, died around 30-33AD

FYI the precise date of the death of Hillel is not known------and was
probably before 10 AD-------some people like to assume that he died 120
years after he was born In any case my original statement that he died
sometime around the time Jesus is said to have been born-----still comes out
right. I did not say it is SURPRISING that Jesus quotes Hillel --(in particular)
He does so----SO MUCH that -------HE COULD be considered "of the school
of hillel " <<<< that's "a thing" Being "of the school of hillel" is still
USED amongst Talmud scholars to describe a POINT OF VIEW, almost
like a political party POV. More FYI-----Pharisees were Hillel people

Question: If your children turn out to eventually be gay, would you kill them as the Bible/Islamic texts imply, or are the Bible/Islamic texts wrong? Which is it?

“If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

If you reply "I don't follow the OT", that's great - then admit that it's wrong (or else you'd follow it).

I believe in loving gays, so of course I think we can move beyond the morality in the Bible/Islamic texts since they got it wrong.

Your opinion?

Wrong interpretation of the passage, but are you atheist? That would explain it being wrong. Atheists are usually wrong.
I notice you didn't give us what it DOES SAY....what DOES it say then, my friend? I'm calling you out.

Why call me out? Just look it up for yourself here. gotquestions.org.

As for being tortured in hell 24/7 if that's what's eating you, I think that's pretty extreme punishment from Roman types. They had vicious ways of punishing people. It's not being gay (if you are really gay*), but not asking forgiveness for your sins and following Jesus. I don't think gay implied a gay couple, but debauchery and promiscuous lifestyle.

What does it mean that hell is referred to as a lake of fire?

* Some gays have been found to be actually heterosexual, but thought they were gay, i.e. went from heterosexual to bisexual or gay. It's psychological instead of those who have a definite preference. What causes gayness is not exactly known.

Actually, you are dead wrong, as this survey shows:
Survey: Atheists, Agnostics Know More About Religion Than Religious

14/15 for 93%. smh. Missed the easy one.

I a genetic test for gayness were ever found, Republican would finally have a reason to support abortion.

LOL Agreed. OTOH, if they realized that supporting low cost, easy access abortion would result in less Democratic voters, maybe they'd start supporting a woman's right to choose.

the big fight against "FUNDING ABORTION' never made sense to me----
the objection usually comes from the same people who despise the
fact of WELFARE ----especially for single mothers. --------well----if you want to
get into cost effectiveness-------relatively speaking-----abortion is a good investment
