/——-/ As long as we’re making stuff up to insult those who disagree, you spend all day watching Peppa Pig videos on a first generation iPad with a cracked screen.

sure man, have whatever wank fantasies you want...

Doesn't solve the problem of we spend more than any other country in the world and we get the worst results.

Highest infant mortality rate in the industrialized world.
Lowest life expectancy in the Industrialized world.
Spend twice per capita what other countries spend.
62% of bankruptcies linked to medical crisis
25% of Americans without coverage or adequate insurance.

/——/ All of what can be fixed by getting the government and lawyers out of the picture.

Um, no, guy. Market fairies are not going to fix these problems.

Here's the thing. If I have something that will save your life, I can pretty much charge you whatever I want for it, because otherwise, you'll die.

The Market is what is making this worse, not better.

Taking away redress when medical personnel fuck it up and make you worse is not going to improve the quality of medical care.

96,000 Americans die every year because of mistakes made by their medical providers. It would be a lot worse if they weren't afraid of lawsuits.

    You are correct.

Under Obamacare (mistakenly referred to as the Affordable Care Act), everyone had to purchase health insurance. There is no such requirement for car insurance. If you don't own a car and do not drive, there is no reason for you to purchase car insurance. Furthermore, most states do not require drivers to have car insurance. These states merely require drivers to demonstrate financially responsibility and although having having car insurance is the easiest way to do this there are other options. Many states allow drivers to post a cash bond in lieu of purchasing insurance. Here is a list of such states (note: this list was published in August of 2015):

States Where You Might Not Have to Get Car Insurance

Still other states, including Florida where I live, allow drivers to avoid car insurance by proving they have sufficient net worth to meet minimum legal obligations. In these states no cash bond is required..

Official Website Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

The government does not require drivers to purchase car insurance to protect their own property from damage; it only requires them to be financially responsible for injury to others and their property. This can be accomplished by purchasing car insurance but other methods are also available. This makes sense because it protects innocent parties from damage caused by others. .

The health care mandate does not make sense. It is wrong to require a person to purchase a product they do not need merely to reduce the cost to others.

Well, you have a point there... because poor people can't get prenatal care, we have a higher rate of premature births...

    America has more premature births.
Mostly because other countries don't count the preemies who die quickly.

Except that again, they have better stats than we do.

Yup. Based on their honesty about births, I knew you'd say that.

Or because they have paid maternity leave and pre-natal care and they aren't dropping the kids early.

Also, not enough preemies to really nudge the numbers in any case.

Yawn... you guys can try to pretend out stats here don't totally suck all day..

    But they totally suck.

American Babies Are Less Likely to Survive Their First Year Than Babies in Other Rich Countries

The reasons the U.S. has fallen behind include higher poverty rates relative to other developed countries and a relatively weak social safety net, says lead author Ashish Thakrar, medical resident at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System.

“The poorer children are, the worse their health outcomes are,” says Thakrar, whose team found that poverty among U.S. children has been higher than in the 19 comparable OECD countries since the mid 1980s.

Premature delivery and low birthweight have been consistently associated with poverty, which affects over 20% of U.S. children, the second highest percent among 35 developed nations, according to a 2013 United Nations Children’s Fund report.
