Hmm, another good question. probably the same reason I gave up golf... felt like a waste of time, so I lost interest, I guess; seemed worthless. I just have no need for it at all.. This post reminds me of a lunch I had with a couple of associates of mine... I live in the south and lots of folks like to have a pray before meals. I find it to be a bit pretentious; virtue signaling if you will, but I always go along. It seems important to these guys.
This time at the end of the usual cookie cutter prayer, a request to look over a local family , and a plea to help a young boy cope was added.
So with the formal prayer over, I asked him what he was talking about. Who was this young boy; and cope with “what”? He told me about a farming accident that cost the boy his arm. Then went on to say something about the Lord working in mysterious ways, and mentioned this verse you posted; or one just like it. To which I asked him, “then why didn’t you just pray for his arm to grow back”? He just kind of looked at me funny, and then we continued on eating lunch...
