This is already a strange election and it might be getting stranger. Bloomberg is already circling. Now Jim Webb, who dropped out of the Democratic race, is making louder noises about making a comeback as an independent candidate. That could mean a four way election with two major independent candidates.

That would make it a very 19th century election and suggest that we're headed for a similar political crackup of the major parties.

...

And so his race would be essentially a protest against the state of the Democratic Party. Sanders is an independent whose ideology now dominates the Democratic race. Webb would be a Democrat running as an independent because national security no longer has a place in the Democratic Party.

It's clear that you've never voted before.

There are an average of 3 dozen Presidential candidates every election. We only hear about 2, maybe 3.

Google: list of US political parties.

Not really. The protocol for electing a president are still the electoral delegates. 270 are needed regardless of how many people are running. So... a third and fourth party candidate would only help to keep one of the major party candidates from reaching the required 270 and the election would move to the U.S. House of Representatives.

This is where it gets very interesting because it's not the typical voting process there. The Top 3 candidates are considered, no one else. Each state gets one delegate vote. Some states have split delegates... I think there are three currently. So those states would essentially cancel each other out. The remainder are overwhelmingly Republican delegates so the House would most likely elect the Republican candidate in such a scenario.

I actually like Webb. the radical leftist hasn't beat him down to their demands, yet.

he's more like the old Blue dog Democrats back in the day. not many left now, because I've watched that party be infiltrated by radicals like Obama, Holder, Lynch, and on and on over the last 30 years. Hillary and Bernie included
