If this is true, we are in trouble...

These statistics are claimed to be true:
1. 50% of American wage earners earn less than $30k.
2. 63% of Americans can’t afford a $1,000 emergency.
3. 80% of American workers live pay check to pay check.
4. Since 1973 American productivity has increased by 77%, yet hourly pay has grown by 12%. If the minimum wage was tracked to productivity, it would be over $20 an hour today.
5. 41% of American workers earn less than $12 per hour, with most without employer provided HC.
6. Since 2008 the federal government and the Fed created $26 trillion out of nothing. Was any of this enormous sum spent on infrastructure, public education, universal HC, bail out 5.1 million people who lost their homes?

Not a pretty picture for the poor and middle class. Hopefully things are improving or we are headed for big trouble.

Number 4 is the big one. Indeed, it drives most of the rest.

Capitalism is eating itself just as Marx predicted.

You're right; Socialism is so much better. See: Venezuela.

(But wait! They just didn't do it right!)

LOLZ for the Socialists
The point is any system can fail, NOT another is better Sue

~S~

Of course any system CAN fail; nothing is perfect this side of heaven. The point is which system has created more wealth and prosperity for the most people--and more FREEDOM--than others.

I think there's no debate on that. The case is actually closed. Capitalism.

Trump's short term exaggerations of the economy masks the long term effects his policies will have. The same phenomenon was seen with Reagan. It will be worse after Trump.

Exactly.....

Trump is a reganista , along with all his exhalted trickle downism.....

food-for-thought-ana-foto-reflexi%C3%B3n.jpg
The irony is that it was Reagan's push for neoliberalism that created the conditions which led to so many disaffected Republicans voting for the orange menace.

Trump is doing his best to fix this..... the more democrats we vote out of office the better off these people will be......

That is why November is so important....democrats thrive on poverty, racism, hate and violence......
How so? What have republicans done to fix this?
From where I'm sitting personally, one thousand dollars means very little. It's just something that happens.

Try facing the facts of what happens to hundreds of thousands of working people.

I do, that's why MAGA is a good thing.

I want every man to be able to support a family, own a house, and have a boat or RV and take a 2-week vacation every year on a 40-hour week job.

That used to be the norm in America, and I want to get back to that.

America has always been great MM

MAGA is for haters ,who are groomed to focus their angst and hate on specific factions of our population

It takes the focus off the elites who are raping us

So you see, the sound byte (FWIW, Reagan's) is used to oust those of us with critical thinking skills enough to see past such hubris , and realize how America ticks

~S~

Therefore you must be able to post the information you took in that made you draw such a conclusion, correct? So do so, or STFU.

Here's where I'm coming from: We've had bad presidents since Ronald Reagan. Every single one of them deliberately weakened the US and made everyone poorer.

By big trouble, you mean people will realize that Capitalism is a crap sandwich for most people and get rid of it?

Yes. Yes, they will. And we will all be better off when we become a social democracy like Europe.

All your points have validity , but all won't be solved by any given politician OR election

Nothing in our lives will change this November , because this is a course we've been on for a generation.

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer in America , that's FACT

Actually more people move up than move down compared to their parents in America. Possibly due to increased ease of information but no, few grow poorer and if they do it's due to their choices.

Marx is being shown to be correct about his analysis of the capitalist system. Well he also had an antidote for the problems we are seeing. Whether you choose to understand what he had to say or not is entirely up to you.

You know now that I revisit this, this is not only a boneheaded argument but a really disingenuous one too.

Imagine buying a car with this philosophy. "Hey I hear this car is a total lemon with horrible ratings."

"The point is any car can breakdown, not that another is better."

Imagine hiring a plumber with this philosophy.

"Hey I hear this plumber is horrible and has messed up a bunch of jobs."

"The point is every plumber can make an occasional mistake, not that some plumbers are better than others."

Absolute trash, that argument. Laughably dunderheaded.

Yes, the deflection to me: I just don't "understand".

Yes, sweetheart, I understand that he was a failure whose failures have failed everywhere they have been tried, with awful and astoundingly tragic results.

Here's your tactics served cold: only dunderheads still think Marx had good ideas that work. You like?

Its pretty much the same over here. I will also add in zero hours contracts. A large section of society does not earn enough to save for a pension and this will have a huge impact in 20 years or so.

Inequality is the big problem. Capital exploits the differences to drive down wages. Strike for better pay or conditions and we will move your job to India where they will work for half your pay. How to break the cycle is a big conundrum.

Trump is exacerbating the problem.

Trump is attacking the core causes of the problem, Trade and Immigration.
The root of the problem is that capitalists control our social relationships. He represents the capitalists. he isn't doing a damn thing to help the people who voted for him. Any help they get will be by coincidence.

Capitalists were in control in the past when we had nicely rising wages.

It was not until the liberal polices of Third World immigration, and the conservative policy of Free Trade sunk in, that wage growth and productivity growth seriously diverged.

YOur words seem to have nothing to do with historical reality.

That began with Henry Kissinger, hence, Nixon, and Kissinger's theory that world peace could be obtained if global economies could be equalized and global wealth could be shared. Reagan developed it into a national doctrine.
