If the Unemployment rate ticks up by 2% in September

Unemployment will not move up or down significantly in the next month

If the Unemployment rate ticks up by 2% in September

----------------------------------

Republicans already have solutions.

Tax cuts for companies moving jobs to China.

Cut education.

Start a new war.

Cut unemployment benefits.

It worked under Bush. Look at how he left the economy.

The OP might be a valid assumption if a two percent increase in unemployment would create a huge number (we can calculate how large) of unemployed people who would then become dependent on unemployment insurance and fearful that the Republicans would cut off the same.

Oh yeah without doubt.

If the army of unemployed rises still higher, the DEMS are hosed.

Independents without much time or inclination to look at the complexity of issues, tend to vote the party in power out of power when times get hard.

Hey, if the economy was going along well when McCain was running, he might have been POTUS.

"It's the ECONOMY, stupid"

Wasdn't that what Clinton's people told themseves (and they were right) while they were first trying to get Bill, elected?

Well...its STILL the economy, stupid!

the Dems will benefit and will probbaly keep the House. JMHO

A 2% increase would be huge and is practically out of the realm of possibility. That aside, where on earth do you get the idea that more unemployed people would help the Democrats? It's high unemployment that is factoring into their upcoming defeat.

I guess you didn't comprehend what you replied to. :eusa_whistle:

Most errors of the OP kind are easily identifiable...iif one is actually reading and responding rather than wetting their pants and simply attacking with a gotcha type reply

I thought Bush left the economy in wonderful shape. Isn't what that 2.4 trillion dollar tax cut was for????

We;ll see a big improvement, which will later (after the election) be revised to be not so stellar.

The Unemployment rate doesn't get revised. So I can already say you're wrong.

Looks like you're the wrong one here, Sparky.
Unemployment Revised: What's Another 617,000 More Jobs Lost Among Friends? -- Seeking Alpha

No, I'm not. Even thought the headline says "unemployment" the article wasn't talking about unemployment. The Unemployment Rate comes from the Current Population Survey (CPS)...a household survey conducted by the Census and BLS. What the article is talking about is the Current Employment Statistics Survey (CES), which is the official measurement of Employment (NOT Unemployment), measures non-farm payroll employment and is revised (for the 2 months after release, then once a year the baseline is revised). You can tell because it says "617,000 jobs lost"...the CES measures jobs (not people). And then again the article says "January Non-Farm Payrolls" which is the CES.

The Unemployment Rate and levels are not revised monthly like the Employment level is.
