If Republicans are the party of the rich

Micro-transactions. It's the same reason a "free" game like FarmVille can be billion dollar business.

But record setting by obama does not add up since most supporters of obama are supposedly poor in tough economical times are not going to waste their money for political purposes.

Both parties are "parties of the rich".
OK but that's not what we hear is it? How did obama set that record?

It's exactly what I "hear". If you don't "hear" that, perhaps you aren't listening close enough.

Obama set the record by receiving the more money for his campaign than anyone else before.

When did anyone claim that Obama supporters were all "poor"?

Are you so sure of that?

If someone isn't rich they would be poor and if the party of the rich is the republican party is it safe to assume the poor would be an obama supporter?

Obama got his money from dumb assed Democrats.

OK but remember The party of the rich as been said to be the republican party. In 2008 obama set a all time record. So if the poor support the democrats how did obama get all that money?
Rich Democrats are different than Rich Republicans......they dont fuck people to get their money......only Republicans do that....Rich Democrats also dont buy political candidates.....that is unheard of.....all those rich Democrats in the Congress....great people....the Republicans are all fuckers.....all those Corporations that give to Democrats.....great Companies.....treat people like people should be treated.....i got all this info from reading Merrill,Dean,Chris and TM's posts.......

Republicans aren't THE party of the rich. They're just A party of the rich. On the whole, they're worse in this regard than the Democrats. But that isn't to say the Democrats are what you could call good.

So how did obama set a record for money taken in during the 2008 election?

Obama's victory in the general election was aided by his tremendous fund-raising success. Since the start of 2007, his campaign relied on bigger donors and smaller donors nearly equally, pulling in successive donations mostly over the Internet. After becoming his party's nominee, Obama declined public financing and the spending limits that came with it, making him the first major-party candidate since the system was created to reject taxpayers' money for the general election.

Obama did do very well in small donations, suggesting that he was the preferred candidate of middle-income and poor Americans (as does exit polling). He did better than McCain from finance and technology companies. However, much of his money came from industries that give substantially to both parties. Probably his biggest fundraising edge was that he was the favorite to win the nomination, and contributors like to give to people they think are going to win. As far as I can tell, we haven't had another non-incumbent who was seen as such a strong candidate from the time he accepted the nomination, so it doesn't surprise me that he also raised the most funds.

Sure obama did, rich people can spread their donations out. But in a tough economy the poor will not donate money when they need to put food on the table,

How did obama get so much money for his campaign in 2008?

Millions of average Americans sending in small amounts. You can't blame it on business when the Chamber of Commerce gives to Republicans 9 to 1 over Democrats.

You know big business is on the side of the Republicans. Why? Because Republicans are slashing education and social services in state after state to give tax breaks, subsidies and incentives to corporations.

None of you right wingers can possibly deny this. It's not like it's a secret. You sit in front of the Internet. Go look it up. You do know how to use Google? Right?
