We have not had d lassiez faire in generations, google it, there were more regulations enacted during Bush and Co's era than at any time since Nixon's Administration yet all I hear is free markets getting blamed and more regs needed, most here could not give me 5 regulations off the top of their head yet thinks the hundreds of thousands on the books isn't sufficient.

I recall reading a book by Howard Jarvis in the 70's that talked about this, how there were hundreds of hidden taxes on a simple loaf of brad, how insurance costs GM more each year than the materials that cars were built from and so much more, that's the fault of government, not capitalism, we went through Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr. and now half way through Obama and corporations still employ thousands of corporate attorneys,lobbyists and accountants to keep from paying taxes.
