Would the economy of 'alternate-2011' be any stronger than the real one?

Explain why or why not, and defend your stance logically.

Unlikely. He would have had a democratic congress and he had no real ideas except John McCain is a cool dude.

Congress would have led the charge for Kensyan stimulus, and the best McCain could have done would be to say "Not so fast." We would still have a mess. Maybe not so bad, but it would still be miserable.

He wouldn't have wasted all that time on health care.

He wouldn't have dumped so much into forcing us to accept green energy

we'd probably still be in Lybia

But I feel that he would not have distracted us with frivolous junk and worked more on the economy.

UE would be between 7.5 and 8%, the debt would be under $10 Trillion

Aside from that, not much better, since he's Obama light

It would probably be a little better. I agree with Baruch about the Democratic Congress, but he could have put a stop to the Keynesian failures Obama and the Democrats made. He wouldn't have stifled the free market like Obama has and there would be more certainty in Washington which would have a positive affect on the economy.

The economy would be in the same condition, current administrations have little, if any, effect on current economic situations.

For example, unemployment reached its highest point since the Great Depression during the Reagan years - 9.7 in 1982, 9.6 percent in 1983 – was Reagan or Carter to blame? For conservatives who say it was Carter’s fault, that Reagan inherited a recession, then conservatives should acknowledge the same with Obama inheriting GWB’s recession. Was it Reagan’s fault unemployment stayed high through his first term, 7.2 percent in 1985? Unemployment didn’t drop below 7 percent until 1987, shouldn’t Obama be allowed the same amount of time to address a recession far worse than what Reagan addressed? Was it Reagan or GHWB’s fault unemployment rose again in 1992 to 7.5 percent? Or was this merely, as I believe to be the case, the natural cycles of economic boom and bust, occurring independently of a given political philosophy’s economic policies.

And the same would be true today with either Obama or McCain in office.

Where can I find the unemployment rate for previous years?

Think about Obama appointing a communist with no experience other than organizing a looting and arson rampage to his "green jobs board". Where are the green jobs? Think about Obama refering to the US Chamber of Commerce as a sinister political tool of the republican party. Think about the corruption inherent in the monstrosity known as the "health care bill". Think about the joke of "cash for clunkers" and the first year apology tour. Nobody could be as bad as the neo-socialist and the mentally defective excuse for a vice president.

If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass every time he landed.

Quit looking backwards

Hey, if you don't want to play, you don't have to start whining about the game. :uhoh3:

I'm curious about Obama's "Keynesian" policies that some other posters are referring to. What are they in particular, apart from the (2008) bailouts?

It was all over the news a couple years ago. Here's something I found on NPR's website:

Obama Gives Keynes His First Real-World Test : NPR

It just seems an exercise in futility.

"Hey, boss, look....I know I really botched this job, but hey, imagine if that guy over there had done it instead. Just be glad I did what I did"

mc cain believed in cap and trade & global warming & open borders & oil is evil & he hated big profits - mc cain did not run against komrade obama - he ran against bush !

he even warned his followers not to mention obamas middle name =

if komrade mc cain was elected prez we would be turning communist - but slower than what komrade obama is doing - but we would not have had the tea party = mc cain also believed in govt health care - lets face it - we had 3 communists running for prez = hillary and obama and mc cain ! = 3 mugs in a tub !

We'd be fucked, plain and simple.

We'd still be in Iraq running combat missions, and would probably continue to miss where OBL was.

Oh yeah..........the war would still be kept off the books and we'd be told that everything was fine, just as we went off the cliff economically.

Not much.

McCain is a left of center, Keynesian. He still would have pushed porkulus. He still would have bailed out the UAW. Most of the stupidity that marks the Obama fiasco would have been done by McCain. There would NOT have been Obama's fascist care, that is the one significant change.

we could have elected this in 2008>

and He would have looked like this a year into His term>
