If Jesus couldn't keep HIMSELF out of trouble...

I'm not a christian, but according to the Bible it seems like he wanted to get in trouble (crucifixion) to absolve people of their sins.

According to the Bible, he had no interest in getting into THAT kind of trouble.

That's why he said "My Lord, my Lord, why have you abandoned me?" when he was on the cross.

You really are an idiot.

That was not why he said that.

It seems natural to ask why wouldn't God be there to comfort Jesus
while he was suffering doing exactly what was prophesied and willed.

It represents a difficult and critical moment.
Although God is there, you feel you are abandoned.

I believe this helps to know that we follow this same pattern in life,
so when it happens to us, when we feel most abandoned and alone,
we can put it in perspective with the whole of humanity going through the same process.

It is both universal and feeling all alone at the same time.

It's not that the story doesn't have a message, Emily. As you've shown, it does. It just doesn't hang together logically.

Yes... you misunderstand... Christ was the lamb. You have to understand... in the Jewish Community of that age, a person had to make blood sacrifices to have their sins forgiven... usually a lamb.

According to our religion. God sent Christ to Earth to be that lamb for all of us. It was foretold in the Old Testament that it would happen(at least that's what I was taught).

But... one thing that I can't exactly wrap my brain around is this.... IF it was all foreordained, wasn't Judas doing God's work? Wasn't Judas helping Christ in his role? If so... Judas wasn't a traitor, was he?

...how do you expect him to save you? :eusa_eh:

This seems like a fatal theological flaw if ever there was one.

Of course he couldn't keep out of trouble. He was into helping people, which of course makes him a "socialist". He was a "teacher" (insert Palin eye roll here). He was the opposite of everything uncompassionate conservatives stand for. Worst of all, he wanted "hope and change".

"You must spread some reputation around..." Dang.

Good grief...this so belongs in the romper room.

Except it's sort of .... perverted. Three dudes so completely faggy in a room that references children...it sets off my gag reflex.

A socialist ? WTH are you talking about...? I have yet to find scripture where JC placed any faith in Rome or any government of any kind ... your confusing compassion with liberalism and they have nothing in common.. JC preached Free Will to do good or bad... its your choice.. he never said it was our responsibility to take care of people perfectly capable of taking care of themselves (Socialism)... He preached individual charity for the poor, widows and orphans... not governmental handouts for the lazy ...

Judas is in Hell... he had a choice ...he chose evil... it wasnt Gods hand that drove Judas... It was Judas's misunderstanding and desire to see an earthly King conquer the world... He tried to force that hand for his own gain when he betrayed the Christ... It Broke Jesus heart that he could not save Judas..

Whoops, my bad..only two fags..

rdean sometimes comes off as multiple...but as it turns out, it's just rdean & wp:

Something is flawed alright. And it's your brain!

Please refrain from speaking on things you know nothing about.

Can't argue the point, so you attack? Join the club; it's big around here.

Dumb ass Jesus CHOSE to allow himself to be executed in order to save mankind. If you do not even know the basic facts please refrain from embarrassing yourself with idiotic posts like this thread.

It's sad when I'm being forced to agree with Dr. Drock, but he's correct in this instance . . . which just goes to show how incredibly ignorant Wonky is truly being, when even Drock is making more sense.

Unwillingness to exercise a power doesn't demonstrates inability to exercise it.

I have the power to take someone elses life (as most of us do). Does my unwillingness to exercise that power mean i dont have it?

It might hurt your chances if you were to apply to join a mercenary unit.

Duh, dimwit. Since she's unwilling to kill people, she's not very likely to be making that application, now is she? Irrelevant much?

Dear lord, do you EVER say anything that isn't asinine?
