If it's good enough for Reid and Census question 9, are we allowed to say Negro now?


It was only about a month ago that Harry Reid created a political "firestorm" by referring to Papa Obama as as a "light skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one"

Now granted Reid spoke the truth, but truth is irrelevant when it comes to the MSM's adherence to the left dictates of PC speak. In fact, truth is the worst enemy of the Left.


However, the Census's question number 9 asks about race and one option is "Black, African American or Negro."

The U.S. Census Bureau said the word "negro" has been on the questionnaire since 1950. They said it's not intended to offend anyone, but to be inclusive.

In 2000 they said more than 50,000 people -- a majority from the South -- wrote in word "negro" under "other race" despite it being listed on the form.

Now many on the left have called for the end of this word Negro under the claims (what else) that is it racist.

Granted all political groups use symbolism but nowhere near the addiction levels of the left.

Why? Because liberalism is based on flawed principles and since they have few if any true economic or social successes, they must appeal to ones' emotional being rather than their
logical being- “It’s for the children”; “We must show people we care”; “We want to help you” etc.

Which also explains the constant pitting of one group against another to really get the
emotions going- rich vs. poor; black vs. white etc.


This is why from day to day, it is hard to tell whatever "cause Du jour" will make the liberal angry and set them off.

However, if one of the Left's "high priests" of race relations came out and said Negro was fine for all to use then you would see a different story.

But until such "holy" clarification comes from on top, we the people must not express ourselves too freely for fear of retribution from the "god" of PC.

Since when has "negro" been a bad word? Saying someone does or does not have a "negro dialect" is a different dicsussion all together, however. I believe you are either purposefully or ignorantly trying to intermingle the two. Which is it?

Since when has "negro" been a bad word? Saying someone does or does not have a "negro dialect" is a different dicsussion all together, however. I believe you are either purposefully or ignorantly trying to intermingle the two. Which is it?

Not at all Comrade, I never said it was nor do I feel the word is "bad". In fact "negro dialect" is not "bad" either.

However, the left does seem concerned by it. For example from the article above:

"Why not leave it as African American? I think that would be more appropriate," said University of Arkansas at Fort Smith sociology professor Lonnie Watts.
Watts said the word "negro" is no longer appropriate in our country, and the word itself is racist.

"Can a word or the use of a word be racist? Yes, it can," Watts said. "Words can hurt. Words can cut deeper than the sharpest knife."

So you can see we may need some clarification from the "left high priests" of race relations before we know for sure if Negro is safe to use



So play it safe and say "people of color" (do not mistake this with the term "colored people"- granted they are same in meaning in terms of grammar but truth is irrelevant )
