Cold fusion reactor verified by third-party researchers seems to have 1 million times the energy density of gasoline - ExtremeTech

Andrea Rossi’s E-Cat — the device that purports to use cold fusion to generate massive amounts of cheap, green energy — has been verified by third-party researchers, according to a new 54-page report. The researchers observed a small E-Cat over 32 days, where it produced net energy of 1.5 megawatt-hours, or “far more than can be obtained from any known chemical sources in the small reactor volume.” The researchers were also allowed to analyze the fuel before and after the 32-day run, noting that the isotopes in the spent fuel could only have been obtained by “nuclear reactions” — a conclusion that boggles the researchers: “… It is of course very hard to comprehend how these fusion processes can take place in the fuel compound at low energies.”

If it does actually work ("If" being a very big word), will countries with interests in the oil market try to kill it off?

If it works, we're talking a major shift in the world and how global politics work, not just cheap and clean power.
The oil rich will become nothing, and the powerful politicians will have their game changed.
Electric cars will be the norm, and inner city air pollution will become history.

Basically, a massive shift in the power balance.

Technology can save us, but the powers that be are so entrenched now that it is likely they will kill any new technology that will upset their gravy train.

I hope I am wrong.

Is Obama talking this up?

Hide it away more like. Until we actually run out of oil, replacing or reducing dependency only reduces profits. Once we're out of oil, oil companies with become nuclear fusion companies.

If the concept of LENR is proven to work and it has been published then it will be impossible to suppress.

Why would utilities allow themselves to be held hostage to the fossil fuel cartel if they can build LENR's for themselves?

Why wouldn't someone come up with a means to retrofit an LENR into a Prius?

Why wouldn't those who have back up generators convert them to LENR's?

If this concept works then it will be akin to taking mainframe computers out of the basements of corporations and putting small versions of them on everyone's desk. Yes, IBM and others did try to "control" the operating systems but it was impossible once everyone had the opportunity to exploit the power of computers for themselves.

This has the same potential IF it is not another hoax.

Let seal this thread with this thought for these big gov idiots who will not want to hear this..

If government wanted to incorporate technology into its operations they would have everything in the IRS run on computers and quit mailing and printing everything to us. They won't do this along with simplifying the tax code because they want lots of federal employees and a beurocrocy for special interests.

If they can't do this something like cold fusion would without question be killed off.

Wuh? The only time you should ever need to deal with paper with the IRS is if you owe back taxes. Legal notices have to be served by mail.

Are you not aware you can file online for free? All the forms and instructions are online, too.

Yes I know. Do you realize how many fed IRS jobs are expendable? Over 50%. Why don't they let them go? Now you realize what is really going on.

You just made that up.

No. I know business and stuff about the IRS. I deal with them monthly. Half of the IRS should have been cut. The IRS is huge. We both know the IRS switched to electronic filing few years ago. So why no layoffs? Imagine a simpler tax code.

Also the IRS being federal employees have pensions out the ass. The USA has 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities. If they get fired those pensions are due.

Federal employees are the most protected employees. Especially the IRS. However since this talk about a simpler tax code by the GOP its scaring them and the left.

Been hearing about cold fusion for decades. Think if it were real it'd be implemented technology. Not 'does it really work?' decades later. :)
