White House COS Jack Lew tried to blame republicans for Harry Reid's lack of action on a senate budget. Typical of the stupid left, Lew started whining about the possibility of republican filibuster that might ....sob...derail the brilliant democrat majority potential senate version of a budget. What Lew didn't know and what presumably the former community agitator didn't know was that there can be no filibuster in budget negotiations. All it takes is a simple majority vote and the simple democrats have a simple majority in the senate. So what's the problem? Is it fear, corruption or ignorance? You tell us Harry.

I don't think Harry will post here to answer your question.

Yep, Lew's statement was pretty embarrassing, considering his responsible position. Still, it's something of a technical point. As politifact points out on its way to rating Lew's statement false, the measures necessary to enact a budget, rather than pass a budget, are subject to filibuster. So, a Republican filibuster couldn't stop a budget resolution from being passed, but it could render it meaningless.

Lew said it more than once....and Jack Lew is no dummy....he's Daley's replacement and is just following White House Chicago thug political orders....

The one thing in the Senate that does NOT require 60 votes is the passage of a budget because it's constitutionally mandated.....and you cannot filibuster the budget. All the Senate needs is a simple majority...which they have...

This is an outright LIE to mislead the public and blame Republicans.... and the lamestream media is being complicit in their lie....

Harry Reid has no intention of passing a budget....

Reid: No, I don’t plan to bring a budget to the floor this year « Hot Air

It’s been more than 1,000 days since the Senate has passed a budget, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is unconcerned. In fact, he says he has no plans to bring a budget to the floor in 2012, either. He argues the 2012 budget is already done because last summer’s debt-ceiling deal included a few spending caps.
...
Here’s why it matters: The Appropriations Committee determines levels of discretionary spending. Approps don’t touch mandatory spending. But mandatory spending constitutes about 60 percent of all federal spending — and mandatory programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security drive our deficits and debt. Without the imposition of budget discipline, these programs grow on autopilot.

By never submitting a budget, enacting a few discretionary spending caps as a part of the Budget Control Act (a.k.a. the debt ceiling deal) and punting to the Super Committee that also punted on entitlement reform, Democrats avoid any difficult discussion of how to ensure the solvency of our entitlement programs. With no plan of their own on the table, they’re free to shoot down anything Republicans propose.
