If gun control is good, why is gun crime highest in the places with the strictest gun laws?

Indeed, the City of Chicago has the strictest gun control of any American city and it is there that gun violence and gun murder is the highest.

Why is the media not reporting this?

Indeed, because it would be an embarrassment to liberals to admit that gun control actually CAUSES an increase in gun violence and gun murder.

And that is because gun control disarms law-abiding citizens, rendering them defenseless against criminals, but it has no effect on criminals, who continue to own and carry guns as if the gun control laws don't exist.

So, for example, you would not see a drive-by shooting in Fairbanks, Alaska, because if anyone tried it, they would be shot down immediately by multiple armed citizens.

But in Chicago, drive-by shootings are a daily experience, and people get shot down and can't do a damn thing about it. Sometimes, the bullets go through walls and windows and kill children in their homes, and still people can't do a damn thing about it.

Simple answer?

It's not.

"Evidence from 130 studies in 10 countries suggests that in certain nations the simultaneous implementation of laws targeting multiple firearms restrictions is associated with reductions in firearm deaths. Laws restricting the purchase of (e.g., background checks) and access to (e.g., safer storage) firearms are also associated with lower rates of intimate partner homicides and firearm unintentional deaths in children, respectively."

These nations also have less freedom.

And I was talking about gun control laws in the United States, not in other countries.

Certainly, if you are willing to go door-to-door and confiscate all the guns you can accomplish the goal of eliminating much gun violence.

However, you will have to follow that up by eliminating a certain amount of free speech freedom to prevent people from complaining about it.

Countries in western Europe are democratic, they have free speech, and they even **gasp** have guns. They're just not suffering from the full-body infection in their body politic known as the NRA, so they can pass common-sense gun laws.

You are cherry picking Chicago .

Compare similar situations. Gun laws are mostly state based .

Compare mass/bostons (tough laws) with Arizona/Pheonix (gun free).

Mass has far better gun crime numbers .

Chicago's guns are principally trucked in from Indiana, which has extremely lax gun laws.

I am not "cherry picking" Chicago. Chicago is proof positive that strict gun control laws absolutely, positively, have no positive influence on lowering gun violence and gun murder. You could also look at Washington D.C., which also has strict gun control laws.

You are, by definition, cherry-picking Chicago, idiot.

Sure, let's look at DC. Since they instituted tougher gun laws, gun violence has plummeted over the decades:

You do cherry pick .

Next will be some stupid comparison wh New York and Vermont .

The thing is, the Founding Fathers said that the American people are allowed to own guns, and carry them around, and the government has no power to stop them.

Liberals think they're smarter than George Washington and James Madison, and those guys.

Why do some places with really strict gun control laws have more gun violence than states with lax gun control laws?

Short answer..................there is an open border system between the states, so it is easy to go to Georgia to buy a whole bunch of guns where the laws are lax, and then simply transport them to Chicago where the laws are strict.

You don't even have to go through customs, simply drive up to the place where you can sell them and make some cash.

The premis is false . Conpare cities in gun nut states wh cities in gun control states .

Chicago is an outlier because of its big gang problem .

Which proves that gun control laws don't work. Why have them?

Gun control laws do work. But you need to have centralized federal control with such laws when you have open borders among states.

The current system of gun control laws we have don't work, because they vary from state to state. If you want to have effective gun control, you have to federalize the laws, otherwise the problem will persist. People in areas who can't buy guns will simply drive to where they can and bring them back home.

Actually the founding fathers said we could "bear arms", they did not mention guns at all. If you want to go by the strict wording then there should be no restriction on any "arm" at all.

It's a lack of respect for human life behind the senseless murders that we see in Chicago and many other Dem-controlled cities. I am willing to bet that the majority of thugs doing the killing are not NRA members and most don't buy guns legally.

I highlighted your error for you.

This is not the UK, this is not Sweden, and this is not Australia.

We are the United States of America and those studies do not matter as they do not apply.

Wrong answer. What you are advocating is illegal already!

Have a nice day!
