Michael Barone: If Democrats can’t run Chicago, can they run anything?

Chicago's economic foundations are being drained and undermined to provide the generous pensions of long-retired public employees, many of them now in income-tax-free Florida, while public schools are closed, services reduced, police patrols pulled back.
Should readers from outside Chicagoland care? Yes, because Emanuel’s surprise exit is a sign of the unworkability of policies that will go national if Resistance Democrats oust Donald Trump, and indeed of some policies embraced by Trump as well.

Time to drain the swamp.

LOL Chicago is a city, the swamp in The District has only gotten more toxic under the chaos and lack of attention Trump gives to his job.

Fact Check: The Nikki Haley Curtain Kerfuffle

While the expense was allocated during the summer of 2016, it seems our current President, penny wise and pound foolish as he has proved to be, continues to allow the government to use of taxpayer money for frivolous items.

Dear Nikki Haley,

There are starving children in America everyday and you have the audacity to misappropriate thousands of tax dollars for your own lavish lifestyle. Resign immediately

sincerely,

America https://t.co/j9h5t50GPb

Vogue ran the headline “Nikki Haley Is the Latest White House Big Spender, Thanks to Her $52,000 Curtains” suggesting, in the article, that “Nikki Haley is the latest to join the ranks of those officials who apparently prefer things that come with high price tags (and at taxpayer expense).”

You do know those curtains were purchased by the Obama Administratioin, right?

NY Times Corrects ‘Unfair’ Report About Pricey Curtains for UN Ambassador Nikki Haley

“While Nikki R. Haley is the current ambassador to the United Nations, the decision on leasing the ambassador’s residence and purchasing the curtains was made during the Obama administration, according to current and former officials.”

The editor’s note continued: “The article should not have focused on Ms. Haley, nor should a picture of her have been used. The article and headline have now been edited to reflect those concerns, and the picture has been removed.”

True, my thread should have been more transparent.

The point I tried to make is Chitown is an example of how conservatism will not speak out against the proliferation of guns, racism and poverty in America, and this thread is an example of pointing fingers in the wrong direction.

Haley is likely innocent - but could have spoken out against this waste of taxpayer dollars; and too many members of the Trump Administration, appointed by him and confirmed by McConnell's lead in the Senate, have used the Treasury as a blank check. As has the President who profits from his position by renting space and golf carts to the secret service, and expensive suites in his hotels for foreign governments.

You are unbelievable. When confronted about your FAKE NEWS with the real FACTS you pivot and the attack continues.
