If you kept up with the speculation out there, there are some that suggest Obama was not born in the U.S.. That being simply because there hasn't been a significant amount of evidence to show he was truly born in the U.S.

So my question is, if he wasn't born in the U.S., would people care? Assuming you could still vote for the guy as President, would that sway Dems or Independents one way or the other?

Hypothetical is the key. Its a hypothetical question, if you could vote for him, regardless of whether he was born in the U.S. or not, would you?

Currently we do have a law that doesn't permit us to have a presidential candidate that is born outside of the U.S. regardless if they are an American citizen or not. If say a year into Obama's presidential term, we find out he wasn't born in the U.S., would you be bothered by that? Would you want to change the law to allow American citizens to be President, regardless if they were born in the U.S.?

Anyone falling into these categories is considered natural-born, and is eligible to run for President or Vice President. These provisions allow the children of military families to be considered natural-born, for example.

It's not just that they are a citizen but a natural citizen. There's a difference. Take Arnold Schwarzenegger, he's a citizen but not a natural citizen. He can't be pres due to it. Natural is from birth. Both McCain and Obama are natural citizens.
