If America had concentrated on Japan completely and then Germany.

Imagine the USA had knocked Japan out of the war as quickly as possible and sent zero troops to Europe and developed the atomic bomb while Russia was taking over Germany. Without having to fight nearly as much on the Western front (no Battle of the Bulge etc.), Germany could have inflicted more casualties on Russia before losing.

Could the USA and allies have launched their own Operation Barbarossa, even throwing in remnants of the German Army after we removed the Nazis from power, combined it with an American atomic bombing campaign and cured the USSR of its communism?

Did you want me to get Roosevelt on the phone and let him know your plan?

Gen. Patton leading Barbarossa would have been a great story.

Problem with this scenario, is that they sank a shit ton of our ships and it takes time to build a fleet. You have so many dry docks and while you can put more people on it, that only goes so far.

Now, we could have, instead of making the Soviets ALLIES, just declared them co belligerents, and not done any of the stupid Lend Lease.

Ideally, if they had been more confident in the Bomb, perhaps getting it earlier, the Nazis might have been deep into Russia, when Berlin got nuked.

THere you can at the very least, see a Free Eastern Europe, which by itself would have made the Cold War a lot less scary.
