If a woama can be elected Chancellor in Germany

they can be elected president in the US.

Always thought Germany was a very masculine-oriented country.
 
Margaret Thatcher was elected over 30 years ago. Although Germany does seem to be somewhat more patriarchal than the UK, I don't think Angela Merkel's election is so amazing as to say much about the prospects of a female President in the US. Personally, I think Hillary Clinton's campaign, which established her as the most likely 44th President of the US for months, clearly demonstrated that a woman *could* win, even though one hasn't yet. That being said, I don't see a female President as imminent-- most politicians are still male and we only get a new President every four or eight years.
