Man charged with murder in Nipomo stabbing
Julio Cesar Alonso has been charged with a single count of murder for allegedly stabbing his 24-year-old girlfriend to death in her Nipomo home, according to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office.
The charge was filed at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
“We wanted to wait until the autopsy was concluded. We also had some further investigation to do,” Assistant District Attorney Lee Cunningham said.
Authorities found Paulina Ramirez-Diaz’s body inside a home in the 600 block of Pomeroy Road at 3 a.m. May 31 after receiving a 911 call to the residence. She had been stabbed once in the neck, officials said.
Alonso, 24, was initially taken into custody for questioning before being booked at San Luis Obispo County Jail on June 1 on suspicion of murder...
..On Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials lodged an immigration detainer against Alonso, according to ICE spokeswoman Lori K. Haley, when ICE agents discovered that Alonso was in the country illegally after being deported last summer.
