I made the mistake of watching the trailer...I have been avoiding it because it looks nasty to me, but I read something that said "critics are calling it the best horror flick of 2010" or whatever, so I checked out the trailer.

I don't plan to watch it either, but that's because I don't really enjoy a lot of horror movies. Not enough depth or character most of the time, and I'm not really into the shock for it's own sake.

Give me a movie like the original Alien, or maybe The Shining.....that's horror of a type I enjoy.

Two of my all-time faves.

I also really liked Event Horizon the first time I saw it...completely weirded me out.

Right now I'm all into foreign horror...Asian, Spanish (I didn't even know about the Spanish Horror genre...I love good ghost stories, so I'm liking it). We don't come out with enough really interesting ones to feed my appetite.

Loved the ring, AND loved the sequel....I don't think I've seen Ringu. That might be what I'll watch tonight.

Some people likely said the same thing about movies like The Shining, Psycho, and The Exorcist when they were released then too.

Those movies had incidental grossness and violence...but the whole idea of the Human Centipede...C'MON!!!! It's just sooooooo wrong.

I'm not a fan of the "Torture Porn" subgenre that has emerged in the last decade myself but for different reasons. It's not so much the violence but rather it's senseless violence that adds nothing to the plot. Hostel is a good example of this. As is the Saw franchise beyond the second film, though one could argue the second film as well.

Like I was saying though, people have a different tolerance when it comes to horror. You find The Shining, Psycho, and The Exorcist okay but I know some people who had the same reaction you did for the Human Centipede for those films. Better off just not watching it and finding something you enjoy to watch.

I said somewhere around here in a thread to NEVER watch it. It is NASTY. Yes, stupid me watched it. But I fast forwarded thru most of it.

I like horror movies like The Cave and things that go bump in the night. Not slasher flicks or gross flicks like Human Centipede. I even LOVE the 3 movies of Resident Evil. The Ring was ok but mostly stuff like that pisses me off. Some thing coming out of my tv wouldn't make me back up and pee my pants. I'd be kicking the fuck out of it or pelting it with everything within my reach. That other one...the asian chick that was killed by her hubby...cant think of the name of it, but I liked that one too. Freddie, Jason, Saw, etc....those are just gore filled crap with lousy acting.
