I was asked to join a fun venture into the wonderful life of 'no fear'. I had to decline. I had to look for a job. But some others who were invited went. I guess their employers didn't mind them taking a leave for a while.

You know, the nightly news recently ran a story about the number of deaths that occur each year due to people swimming in quarries and jumping off of the sides.

Seems that there are several hazards in quarry swimming. One of them is having mining equipment just below the surface that you can't see, and if you dive you can hit it.

Another one is the temp of the water. On the first 1 or 2 feet of the water, it's fairly warm from the sun, but go below that, and it is almost freezing. You can actually get hypothermia from swimming in a quarry.

Another one is amoebic parasites.

Nope, swimming in a quarry really doesn't appeal to me. Give me a fresh, clear, Montana or Colorado lake any day of the week.
