I still have a crystal-clear memory (almost like it was yesterday) of when and where I was the first time I heard "Satisfaction"...

loved practically everything they did while Brian Jones was around...

for me, the high point for the Stones was "Let It Bleed"...

then came "Sticky Fingers"... and I remember thinking to myself back then "mebbe it's just me... mebbe I'm missing sumpin' here... but, jeez... gotta say, this sorta sucks"...

then came "Exile On Main St."... which really pissed me off... double album fulla not much at all... a complete waste of my time and money... I listened to it prolly no more'n three times before I gave it to a buddy of mine...

anyhow, I was just now thinkin' 'bout one of my favorite Stones tunes, which led to put this thread together...

Huge Stones fan here and it would be hard to pick a favorite album.

But if somebody put a gun to my head and "pick", I would probably go with Exile on Main Street.

Agreed "Let it Bleed" was their high mark. Something did change after Brian, but I still liked some of the later stuff. The sax solo on "Can you hear my knockin'" still does it for me and the "Some Girls" album was ubiquitous at an influential time in my life. I still think fondly of it. But if I had to pick one, LIB would be it.

for me, Charlie Watts' bored-looking expression in this video says it all...

I can easily imagine Charlie thinkin' to hisself "meh... we shoulda all gone down in a plane crash 'round about five years ago"...

I 'spect you're at least five years younger than me, Mr. C...

that's the only way I can try to explain to myself your stated preference...

I like their new song, 'Doom And Gloom', only because it has Noomi Rapace in it, which is how I got my name. :)

'nother fav from back in the early days...

I can still recall the experience, back in the sixties, of listening to "Sympathy for the Devil" through stereo headphones. It's also great now to be able to watch the Stones perform it in concert via Youtube videos.

I was really into The Who and Cream back then.

But every Stones fan I knew, all said "Exile" was their best album.
