I think Bama claims 1973 as a NC

they claim every thing under the sun.

That year - they were #1 in the UPI - whose final bowls were before the bowl games.

Then they lost to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl - and ND is generally recognized as the 1973 National Champions.

But I still think Bama claims the UPI final poll as a NC.

In 1978 - they lost to USC - but got a split NC.

In 1964 - they backed into a NC - after ND got screwed at USC - and Arkansas lost.

And in 1965 - When UCLA and the gutty little Bruins upset heavily favored #1 Michigan St 14-12 in theRose Bowl.

You get the picture...........................

ND go tthe MacAurther award in 1964 - but they never claimed it as a NC.

Should have contested the BS in 1993.

They only claim slam-dunks 1966, 1973, 1977, 1988 -which they will do after they beat Bama on Jan 7.

I am very proud to be a Crimson Tide fan. I don't worry about counting championships back to the 1890s. In fact, other than as historical trivia, I don't look back more than a few years.

I know what has happened at the UA since Saban took over. I am proud of where we are now.
