I recently got into Skyrim again on PC...

The one beef I have with Bethesda is their commitment to including random junk. There's not much interesting about finding a cabbage.

...and I'm enjoying it a lot more this time. I have 112 hours played so far, but some of that is from when I first got the game at release. I'm not sure if Steam differentiates how much you've played by year. But I'm definitely much deeper into the game than when I first played it. I estimate that I only put about 12-20 hours into the game when it first came out.

I'm playing as an Imperial on the side of the Empire. Has anyone else played or beat this game? I don't want any spoilers, but I'm curious what side people chose if they did play the game.

Played through at least three times. I say at least because a few times I loaded mid-point saves and took different paths.

It is simply one of the best games ever made.

How bout that awesome wooden cup bruh! Lol
At least the cabbage will give you a bit of health.

I suppose if you're playing Fallout 4 on survival mode it could make a difference. Mostly it's just senseless clicking.

....

But then, is it any more pointless than arguing politics with trolls? These are the questions that plague men's souls.

I just can't stay focused on Bethesda games. I have thousands of hours in the souls series and the combat and magic just keep me hooked. The pvp & coop dont hurt either.
Bethesda just puts too much fluff in their games to pad the length.

Have any of you played any of the games I listed above?

Yes, I am a Junkie.
Well if you enjoy the combat in them you should play the new God of War game. It is very similar

I've been considering that one. Just came out today on PS. I don't think it supports VR yet though. :(
It doesnt and likely never will. The ps4 has a parity clause where every VR game has to also run in vr on the base machine. This game is way too demanding. Without VR my pro's fans sound like a jet engine at take off. God damn gorgeous tho.

Even Elite Dangerous cant run in vr on the system. It's just too weak.

I've played and loved Witcher 3. I've played Dark Souls, but that is a VERY different kind of game, and I find it far less enjoyable. Never was a fan of Mortal Combat or Street Fighter.

The best of the best in RPG's is Dragon Age Inquisition.

But I have played everything.

I couldn't get into DAI. Convoluted story and God damm them fucking fetch quests lol

That game has some of the absolute worst garbage combat.

Try Dark Souls instead. A vastly superior game.

You have the absolute worst garbage combat!
Fanbois are funny.

The game world is great. The depth is great. But a HUGE part of the game is trash, the combat.
Bethesda RPG's are so far behind all of their competitors when it comes to melee combat it's funny. No targeting system, no lock on for multi enemy encounters. Zero weight to the impacts. Absurdly slow for most weapons.

It's just trash.

They will be announcing a new ip, a scifi rpg called Starfield in June at E3. Let's just hope it's on a new engine because the Skyrim/Fallout engine is antiquated and far behind the competition.

You’re not the only person to have shared these concerns with me. I agree in some ways about the flaws in combat, but the rich universe appeals to my nerdy side.

Total side note: I am not sure how much you like RPG/dungeon crawly board games, but Gloomhaven is pretty awesome.

Gloomhaven
I haven't played a board game in decades. Considered buying this one to compliment the digital games.

There are better board games. Depends on what you like I guess.

I honestly wouldn't know as I haven't played them in years outside of children's games with my kids/grandkids

I've been playing Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2 on steam most recently. Different beast though with it being turn based.

My favorite turn based game is Darkest Dungeon or Xcom

Most of the good one's are German. The Werewolf/Mafia genre is fun too (Russian origin), if you're playing with more than four people.

I'm thinking about downloading Skyrim after playing it a bunch on Xbox 360. It really is a great game, there are so many different ways to play.

I had a video card die and right now prices are through the roof for them due to cryptocurrency mining. So I am stuck on Intel hd graphics for a bit. I decided to download some old games I missed and play at 720p. Bought four games for around $7 a pop.

Assasins Creed Black Flag is my favorite of them so far. I just started Fallout New Vegas and its a bit slow in the beginning. PC gaming is the way to go. I use my desktop like a home entertainment center in the living room with a wireless keyboard and xbox 360 controller, it's great to relax on the couch with a big flatscreen.

That is a damn nice setup. You should get a solid state drive though. I was running an AMD rx290x that died. It was running 24/7 crypto mining, oops. That Nvidia1080 is a nice card, I'm looking to buy one, trying to wait for prices to drop a little lower. I've decided to forego consoles and do all gaming with PC, thought about adding the Switch though. Not interested in VR yet.

My more humble set up:
Vizio 65"
Generic 7 speaker surround with shitty sub
Intel I7 7700 (originally I5 6500) with Noctua cooler
Asus motherboard with 2x8gb Gskill memory
Crucial 525gb M2 solid state drive, WD blue 1tb, Toshiba 500gb
Sapphire AMD 290x that has died
Old evercase computer case from 2005 modified with second front fan
Three Noctua 120mm case fans with magnetic fan filters
EVGA 550 watt gold power supply
Asus blueray optical drive
Logitech K400 wireless keyboard with touchpad
Xbox 360 wireless controller

I gotta have them console exclusives man. Too many phenomenal games to just ignore.
