Yes, our country is simply great for many, many reasons and, all in all, I'd rather live the rest of my days within the U.S. and enjoy all that she has to offer.

However, facts are facts.....and the right wing segment of our society that blindly espouse their belief in "American exceptionalism," are simply not dealing with facts.

Consider that when it comes to healthcare we rank 37th in the world, while spending almost 3 times as much as anywhere else on the planet. Further, when it comes to life-expectancy, the US has an average of 79 years, compared to 81 in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.......compared to 82 in France, Italy, Sweden, Spain and Canada......abd compared to 83 in countries like Japan and Switzerland.

So, when we boast of our "exceptionalism," ...at least regarding our longevity....we best deal with facts

I don't know or care about rankings Nat , I only have personal experience . From my personal experience and seeing family , friends and others that I know deal with health issues I say that USA healthcare was best in the world . Longevity , not a big deal to me as I have no desire to live to become a geezer on crutches , a walker , wheelchair , drugs or hooked up to drip feeds or other machines and devices to keep me going . I figure that being active at maybe 75 or 80 is a good deal , good enough for me anyway !!

I see our exceptionalism as having been the most Free country in the world . Course I see that Freedom and exceptionalism slipping away rather quickly as I know the rules Required to simply ride a motorcycle legally on the streets and highways of America. Same rules , regulation , fees required to exercise the Right to own firearms . Oh , well at least my generation as well as my parents lived as Americans and our America was an exceptional place .

...and, overall, I'd agree, IF, indeed, the longevity was nothing more than years in a vegetive state.....but such is NOT the case in other countries, mostly due to their diets and less stressful life-styles (the social capital that we mostly lack in our own country.)

By that I mean that this forum is an apropos example.....Look at the bitter hatred expressed by some posters on here...stressed out about the fact that they hate Obama and anything that resembles a "progressive" agenda.

I will tell you something yet it will pass like the wind on a sunny day.....

Life could be a lot worse....

The USA has the best health care in the world, but even adequate health care was not easily affordable or available before ACA.

and whats the big deal , looks like you are talking about what , 79 for Americans compared to a Japanese guy , probably a woman . 79 to 83 , 4 years probably due to diet choices so just eat more fish , drink some tea .

According to some like you. And if that is the worst in your world, you are in very good shape.

Quit whining.

US healthcare is the best n the world for when people actually gte sick. This has been posted over and over.
Exceptional doesnt mean perfect. No one claims the US is perfect. For starters we have Democrats.

law of nature , well better than being kept alive on pharmaceuticals in my opinion Moonglow . What 30 extra years in a wheelchair gulping pills sounds good to you ??

We have far and away the #1 healthcare system in the world, you're not doing to well on dealing with facts

ACA is not unAmerican, and, yes, millions of Americans were not able to get available and affordable great health care before. To say otherwise is to lie. Kaz probably is not lying, merely caught in an ideological bubble.

If the above is the extent of your knowledge of statistics, no debate is necessary.

First, its "too well" and not "to well" (which would be another discussion on our exceptionalism regarding education.)

But, we have the best health care system ONLY for those who can afford it.....and we subsidize that system by paying 3 times as much as any other industrialized nation on the planet.
