Congress has been at a complete standstill all year as far as making any attempt to conduct the nation's business by actually trying to pass laws.

Both sides recognize the futility, particularly when the president has been so invisible and so obviously lacking in leadership qualities. It has been months and months since he's sat down with party leaders. So why should anyone think sitting down with his Jobs Council would be of any more importance?

Does he really believe, should he for some unknown reason, win reelection that he can just waltz back into Congress, wave his magic dildo, and wondrous things will happen?

Does he honestly believe that more of the same is just what this country, ALL of it, wants and needs?

Particularly when it's more than possible the Senate will go Pub?

Facing that situation, might there not be a few moments in his only activity these days, campaigning endlessly, when he privately hopes he loses?

Nancy Pelosi thinks that the democrats will lose the senate. That's why she advised state representatives to stay away from the convention and shore up their districts.

But, dude, you haven't heard?

Dog in the pet-porter on the roof of the Road Queen Family Truckster?

Bain Capital?

Offshore bank accounts?

Bain Capital?

Childish pranks in prep school?

Bain Capital?

Tax returns?

Bain Capital?

Wife a member of the horsey set?

Bain Capital?

And what about Bain Capital?

Oh brother... The President has tried to work with the Congress on several fronts in the last month. There is another thread on this board where he said Congress should consider allowing bankruptcy protection for student loans. It, of course, was sought to be pandering.

If he does A, he's not trying. If he does B, he's pandering.

Oh really? It wasnt political grandstanding with class warfare.

Please demonstrate..............

Obama just tried to pass a jobs bill passed, repubs threatend to water it down with a killer amendment.
And the HoR has passed no fewer than half a dozen bills that Reid won't even put on the calendar for debate.

Call the waaaaamberlamps.

this is the sort of childish attitude that has D.C. in legislative gridlock.
Thank you for a good, bad, example.

It is what democrats want, they lack the courage or conviction to go on record with a budget.

The tree is bearing fruit. Is it what you imagined?

Obama, my arse!

The House has passed any number of jobs bills that Reid shoved in his desk drawer. Whatever compelled Reid to bring one of them to the floor I can guarantee you had nothing to do with the O.

And "killer" amendments or opposition to such have always been part of the political hoopla.

Pay attention, dude

Regardless of what you believe or what side you are on, it will be very interesting to see how this election turns out. Will voters stand by and remain split, leaving us with a split Congress? RCP has the generic congressional poll in a dead heat, meaning there is an outside chance that the Dems could gain more seats in the Senate and even take back the House while Obama is re-elected. Of course, the complete opposite could just as easily happen. We have massive gridlock in Congress, and both sides blame the other. The side you blame is the one you will end up voting against in the end.

not if repubs are going to amend poison pills in every bill.
and it goes the other way also when repubs controlled Congress.
neither party is innocent.
But retirees and others acting like children on this board is a microcosm of the whole problem.

I heard her say that and had to ponder all the motives behind that statement.

I agree - so many Dems are behind in their races, they need all the campaign time they can get.

And it's also very likely many of them do not, have not, will not support all things Obama. I suspect they're very aware, except perhaps the Black Caucus, that he's dragging them down.

Oh brother... The President has tried to work with the Congress on several fronts in the last month.

What did he offer to give and what did he get in return ?

Why would he have to "give" anything? It's a good idea. Student loan debt is higher...if you can believe this...higher than consumer credit card debt. Companies can literally screw their stockholders out of every penny they have invested in them by declaring bankruptcy. Adults can avoid creditors under essentially the same practice. Yet this option isn't available to students.
