just something abouth him that rubbed me wrong.

too much of an Institution.

Sorry about his death.

WOW! I never saw that coming.

Penn St. never had a NCAA investigation with the Football program.
Academics before athletics.
National championships, winning records.

Yeah, he was a chump.

Joe P was too freaking arrogant...............................

I don't like Mike at Duke either............ and a lot of other coaches

Paterno should have retired 15 years ago - like Wooden did in his mid 50s.............

Wooden retired when he was 65, G. :eusa_whistle:

good for him

(my bad)

NO EXCUSE for someone in their 80s to be head coach at a major university......................

And there is NO EXCUSE for someone who has been here for 16 months to not have an avatar..

An when I get one you will say: what took you so long????????

Freaking gliches --------- how I got my current username after about 5 tries on another site............................

so I have done with the bare minimum - no bells-and-whistes like avatars etc

Paterno coached because he wanted to keep coaching.

You may not think someone in their 80's should be coaching, but since JoePa's Penn State were the Big 10 champions when he was 82, I am guessing you are the only one who thought he was too old.

Penn State has won 827 games in the history of its football program. JoePa coached 409 of those victories.

He went 11-2 in both the '08 and '09 seasons. He was the winningest coach in Div 1 football. He coached 2 national championship teams and 5 undefeated teams.

During his tenure, Beaver Stadium went from 46,284 seats to 106,572.

But you think he should have been fired because he was too old????
