Non-Defense, Non-Interest spending rose just 1% under Reagan, lowest of any post WW2 pres. In spite of a Dem congress and Tip O'Neill trying to stop him.

Guy had the balls to raise Social Security retirement age 2 years, something current numbnuts in the GOP would never do. And he cut staffing in departments of education and energy, which W increased faster than Clinton did.

Also, Carter, like 0bama. ran accusing Ford of being spendthrift, and when he got into office, he pulled Fords last budge with is (relativly) small deficit and presented on of his own with the deficit 10 times higher.
