Ask any Righty on this board, we will al tell you that we are so much FOR the working poor that we would want to provide them with training and education. That would allow them to become the 'working middle class'.

You want a gov't program that would work? Simple, for adults with a documented record of willingness to work the US gov't SHOULD help to pay for both, their basic bills and their education as long as they can pass a UA and follow the rules of the educational program they are entered in.

The right believes that if you are willing to work to improve your situation, we should be willing to help you improve your situation.

This is just another example of accountability based programs that the right would endorse.

Where we have issue with the working poor - is that they have been trained by the left that adults can work in a convenient store, take a gov't check and spend their evenings blowing our tax dollars on a couple of 40s, a pack of smokes, and a dozen bong hits.

When the gov't is helping you to improve your situation we are for it. When the gov't is providing you with a reason to stay among the working poor, we take issue.

...and you act like it's the people we are taking issue with! The left should be ashamed of itself! If you guys really CARED like you claim to care - you would care to see people become successful rather than care to keep them in the gov't net so you know they will keep voting for the party of 'keep everyone poor'!!

They could learn how to leave a decent tip, too. ;)

The rightwing needs the working poor to do low paying jobs with no benefits

I swear I'm not referring to black people.

So how do you differentiate between the working poor who are deserving of a helping hand and the moochers who just want to be professional moochers? What's the plan to identify who is who? I'm all for weeding out the moochers, but not at the expense of those who actually need help. So whats the plan?

What have righties done to help the working poor?

- Blocked their right to unionize
- Blocked access to affordable healthcare
- Blocked low cost student loans
- Blocked childcare assistance
- Blocked increases to the minimum wage

I can see why the working poor flock to vote Republican

Simple, they show a work history -- to a standard (negotiable) - and a clean UA --- if you have shown no effort you don't qualify for the program. Mind you - and this is where the left will get mad --- if you show no effort and can't pee clean --- you get no tax dollars...

Oh horse shit. Not everyone lives in a town or city with lots of opportunity. Many of the working poor live in rural, small towns. They start working as soon as they are teens and work their whole lives in a place where practically no one is paid a living wage. They end up with very small social security payments, and don't have a lot of money, but do you know what? They are proud, don't complain, live within their means and are all-around hard-working people. These people are not "victims" or "irresponsible". And just who would pay for your "job training"? Taxpayers? Isn't that socialism?

I have no problem with the drug testing, but the work history....what about someone who is disabled, elderly, or what if someone is unemployed and can't find regular work?

Not really --- we think hiughschool and college kids should have those jobs -- as their parents still cover their 'benefits'. We would rather the working poor PAY TAXES in their new middle class jobs....

Do you understand what some have to do to keep benefits?

Disabled fall into disability -- has nothing to do with what we are talking about. Elderly is the same thing -- if they need programs specific to their needs --- I'm for it.

I would rather spend money on investigators to ensure that there is nobody taking advantage of the system than to give money to people who are talking advantage of the system.

This is the topic

Republicans have done everything in their power to maintain a population of low cost, disposable workers

And they're trying to make them even more low cost (they would LOVE to bring back slavery or indentured servitude) and truly disposeable (no safety net).

Well, what you are describing there sounds like a local issue. Not sure Why somebody in New York should be required to cover the problems created by the specific problems in Kentucky. Sounds to me like Kentucky needs to reevaluate their situation and solve it on a local level.

...and I live in a small town - rural area --- My church helps those type people all the time. I would much rather handle those problems in my town than get the federal gov't involved. It's not really something that a bunch of Washington beurocrats can appreciate to begin with.

Or a divorced housewife entering the workforce for the first time out of necessity? Or a high school drop-out trying to turn his life around... or the recovering addict? What about those people?

You tell me how is it that you know how I feel better than I know how I feel?

Exactly, you can't. --- and he is not on topic at all. Once again - hate from the left stops us from accomplishing something good...

You assume that you know conservatives want to make things hard on people --- There just is NO TRUTH TO IT WHATSOEVER!

Show me some percentages..........I want to know who and how many are taking advantage of the system. And what percentage they represent of the people receiving benefits.
