I liked Obama in 2004.

But I still wish the Republicans in Washington would find more common ground with Democrats so that Americans could see a little bit of progress being made.

Like when the Democrats and Republicans reached a compromise on the debt ceiling the the Tea Party Retards fucked it up which led to our downgrade?

I liked Obama in 2008 when he said he'd get us out of Iraq and refocus our efforts on killing AQ. Now that he has done that, I like him in 2012 (barring any stupidity).

Ironically, he's been much more adept then Bush at fighting the GWOT, which I thought would be his weak suit and his domestic policies have floundered.

I am not fully happy for him, but considering the chuckleheads that are running against him and that he fulfilled my main expectation of him, he's earned my re-election vote.

Attention. The deal didnt make the necessary cuts which would have still led to the downgrade.

Dont be a liar, its way to easy to tear your crap apart.

The Tea Party has put the GOP on notice. ANYBODY who compromises just to get something done, even when that something is worthless or destructive legislation that costs the tax payers more money or more freedom, will emerge from the vote with a HUGE target on his/her back.

The GOP house has now sent dozens of excellent bills to the senate where they languish in committee because Harry Reid won't bring them up for debate or vote.

When our Fearless Leader advises the Republicans that they are welcome to come along as he fixes things but they'll have to sit in back, you know there will be nothing on which anybody can compromise.

Saying yes just to compromise on something and get something done no matter how irresponsible is not what I want from my elected leaders.

Well, that's logical. I mean, our system is geared towards compromise. So naturally refusing to compromise would be a good thing.

This is why most Americans have an unfavorable view of the TP now. They are going to hurt the GOP. Their actions during the debt ceiling will be referenced time and again and they won't be able to escape that Bachman, now considered to be a joke, was the leader of their caucus.

How the TP was stupid enough to let that loser take the helm, I'll never know.

At any rate, Ames was most likely the high water mark of TP influence. Now the TP is desperate to get rid of Bachman.

Good luck with that.

I didn't lie about anything. I know why the TP opposed it. It was just retarded and playing financial chicken is not good leadership.

The poster said he wanted to see compromise. I simply pointed out there was actually some compromise until your teabagger fuckwiths screwed everything up.

They didnt screw up a thing as you just backtracked.:lol:

Why is it liberal think an extra 70 billion a year will make up a trillion dollar deficit?

The way things are going Obama is going to get over 320 electoral votes or more as most of the states that want for him last time are trending in his direction this time.

2008 for Obama
Electoral vote 365

So you all can get to enjoy another 4 years of Obama!

Really. Seriously. You need to get a refund from whatever university gave you a degree.

And your parents need a refund for their school taxes. The public school system failed you in a big way.

Actually, I'm probably better educated and smarter than you are...

What did you get your PhD in?

My subject was math. Specialty number theory.

And next you'll be telling me you're a millionaire... and you drive a Lexus... and if you were a dude, you'd probably tell me about the size of your genitals.

Sorry, nothing I've seen in your writing tells me that you are anything but a mindless robot. Even the Mormons make better defenses of Romney than you do, and they're mentally challenged.

And that's part of the problem. Obama likes to pretend that the 2010 midterms didn't happen. They did, for better or worse.

Honestly, and I never thought I'd live long enough to say this, you have to admire Bill Clinton. He very cleverly embraced parts of the "Contract with America" that were popular or good ideas, while opposing the ones where not so great or he could take a stand and look couragous...

Obama takes hard lines until he gets bullied into going along. He's simply unfit for the job

Being from Arkansas, it was unlikely that Clinton was going to be pure Marxist/socialist in his philosophy of government. He actually signed off on ALL the Contract with America, on its first offering, on those things requiring his signature. Term limits did not pass the House nor was it promised, only that it would be brought up for an honest vote and it was. Some of the other things were internal procedural rules within the Congress--all that passed--and the few things requiring the President's signature got them.

The only place Clinton seriously balked on a major piece of legislation was Welfare reform and that he did veto three times before public pressure persuaded him to pass it. But Clinton wasn't saddled with a lot of convictions re right and wrong but rather was focused mostly on Clinton looking good and being loved. So as long as the Congress had public opinion on its side, and it usually did at that time, Clinton didn't give them too much resistance.

Obama is indeed unfit for the job, but he also lacks the political savvy Clinton had and lives under the delusion that all he has to do is talk and most will continue to fall all over themselves to adore and grovel as he thinks they once did. Clinton was smart enough to know that public anger was a prettty big deal.

Memo to GTH: The Tea Party hurt the GOP? The last I heard, the GOP retook, by a nice margin, the majority in the House this year and gained enough additional seats in the Senate that the Senate almost has to have GOP votes now to pass anything. According to the latest Rasmussen Poll, despite an all out campaign by the MSM to discredit the Tea Party and GOP, the generic matchups re GOP and Democrats show that the GOP has lost no ground and the Democrats have gained no ground with the GOP still holding an 8% lead greater than the margin of error.

Where is all the hurt you seem to so desperate want to exist?

Not "hurt". "Hurting". They've exceeded their political usefulness. If you doubt that, go read a poll.

"Some compromise"? He was giving away the freaking farm. Remember how badly the democrats/liberals responded when he was like "No? Then how about this? No? Okay, I'll tack on this, but that's my final offer. No? Okay then ..." I was literally in tears. I wrote the President nastygrams.

With hindsight, I believe he knew they wouldn't back down, and that's why he went so far. He knew it, he just had to prove it. He did so, and they did so again when all was said and done, and the hostage situation was past-tense.

I've been reading the polls. That's why I know you're only engaging in wishful thinking. If the GOP starts compromising the principles they professed when they got voted in this time, so far as the Tea Party is concerned, they are toast. And the Tea Party knows they have enough voting clout to make a difference. They may not be able to pull off their preferred candidate winning every election, but their track record so far as been darn good.

A Republican who compromises with Democrats just to get something done is not what any of us who consider ourselves conservatives or conservative libertarians want. We don't want Democrat lite. If we're going to have Democrats winning the votes in Congress we might as well elect the real thing.
