I have no way of determining whether my taxes would go up or down under Romney

Well, he quite CLEARLY said last night he would not raise taxes on the middle class. are all liberals deaf or what?

Without the details of his tax plan I have no way of knowing if that's true or not. Besides, "middle class" to Romney is probably those who earn between 500k and 5,000k a year.

I have no way of determining whether my taxes would go up or down under Romney. I know he wants to lower rates. He also wants to get rid of credits and deductions and refuses to say which ones.
In a wide-ranging interview with Time Magazine, Mitt Romney declined to say which deductions he would eliminate from the tax code in order to make his plan to cut tax rates across the board revenue-neutral.
Mitt Romney Refuses To Say Which Tax Deductions He Would Eliminate

If I assume the worst - that he'll get rid of all deductions, credits, and exemptions - even with a lowering of the rates by 20%, my income tax liability jumps from $10200 under Obama to $14200 under Romney.

So am I supposed to vote for the guy because maybe he won't raise my taxes in order to give tax breaks to himself?

EDIT: I would also like to add that I"ve been paying taxes for 18 years, and during that time have had no children. My taxes during that period went - in part - to pay for tax credits for people who have children. Now I have a child, and I'll be damned if I don't get the same prefferential tax treatment I helped to fund for others.

You know one thing for sure, or you should, if Obama get Re-elected his Policies will inevitably mean higher taxes for us all.

That's what the right keeps repeating over and over yet no one has shown me concrete evidence of this.

I'm interested in the real impact to my tax liability - not some hypothetical theoretical guess based mostly around fear of liberals.

You're taxes never change brother, because, well - you refuse to work and support yourself. So, no worries for you!

Sorry I don't fit into your stereotype of a liberal, but my wife and I earn 103k a year total.

Yes the flamers are trolling

Both Mitt and Ryan have said they will raise taxes on the middle class and poor and lower taxes on the 1%. They've backed off from saying that now and instead, say it in code. Nonsense like, "lowering taxes on job creators" even though the 1% does not create jobs or channeling Reagan's disastrous policies.

(Other than Jeb Bush's really dumb 'he ain't heavy, he's my brother' speech, its been interesting that the GObP has pretended that gW doesn't exist and never has. The only one who has treated the ex-plutocrat-in-chief with any respect has been President Obama.)

Last night was weird. It was like he was confused and contradicted himself. But, that's just Etch A Sketch - don't like his opinion? Stick around cuz it will change. I listened for even one detail but he said what he always says: Me good, Obama bad.

The rw's don't want to admit it but its true that he has always kept us apprised of what's going on. someone asked when the last time he talked to the people was - about two weeks.

He lowered our taxes, lowered taxes to small businesses. The pubs/pots raise taxes and will do it again.

Individual income tax rates decline by 20 percent, as shown:

Current Rate 10%

25%

28%

33% 35%

New Rate 8%

12%

20%

22.4%

26.4% 28%

I thought the left wasn't worried about taxes. You have to realize a couple of things though, Romney won't force America to become a little Europe and he won't hamstring businesses with useless regulations and he probably doesn't think corporations and banks are evil. That translates to bad news for socialists and most likely an economic upturn and that usually means no tax increases.

I wasn't looking for talking points slogans, I wanted to be able to figure out how Romney as President would actually impact me.

What rw's have no way of knowing is that it is CONGRESS that controls our economy. That's why they keep blaming the president for the obstructing and filibustering congress.

If Rs take the senate and Mitt is the prez, if the GObP gets what they want -

Fewer jobs cuz the pubs don't DO jobs. They have said they will give more money to the 1% so they will create jobs. That is the opposite of what happened in the past but that's what they will do. Small companies will cease to exist and be bought up by 1%'s.

Wall Street may not crash but we've had 4 years of growth. That will end. Any investments you have will lose value BIG TIME.

Higher fed taxes but MUCH higher local taxes because they will pull fed assistance. Police, fire fighters will cease to exist unless we each pay much more for them. Schools will close. Highways, bridges, infrastructure will crumble.

Housing and construction will collapse completely. More people will lose their homes to the 1% (Mitt has said he wants this to happen so don't look to him for any help) and people will no longer own or buy their own homes. The possible exception will be trailers/manufactured homes but people won't be able own their own land and will rent it from the 1% overlords.

Manufacturing will cease in the US. We saw 40K factories close under Bush and the R's were the cause of that. We already buy most of what we need from China and the Rs want that to continue. OTOH, Obama has given a tax break to companies who locate in the US and hire Americans.

Obama has given permits to more oil drilling than any other president but the Rs want to drill where there is little or no oil (like Alaska) because it would mean more money to the 1%. All efforts toward energy independence and/or environmentally sound energy will stop because there's not a lot of money in sunshine and wind.

Grim and it would take time for to get this bad but that's the GObP goal. It all comes down to $$$.

They alwasy scream the government cant create jobs while they beifit from the jobs the government creates like infrastructure, police, inspectors of all kinds and education.

Thwen they cash their government checks from their rep jobs at the bank

Sure you do... You earn all that money and then spend all of your time advocating for government to take it from you (makes perfect sense). If that's true, you're far dumber than I even accused you of being.

why wont this man tell us WHAT his plans are while hes president?

Shit I am still wondering what Obama will do while he is president. Except put us further in debt , give us a healthcare plan most did not want and the highest tax increase in modern day history ..

Well, nobody is king of "government creates jobs" more than Barack Obama - how is that working out for you? Longest period of +8% unemployment in US history!!! Yeah, great work stupid. Don't let the facts get in the way of your brainwashed ideology though, right stupid?

I would settle for a flat tax

I think youre on government assistance because you sure are worried about cutting government waste. The police is state not federal btw so is most infrastructure and education.

IE, you hate him because he's wealthy and envy him because he's done well. Got it... (do you not even see how your statements wreak of envy? You do know that is a mortal sin, don't you?). Why can't you just be happy with what you have and happy for others that have more?

Well if you are middle class you will assuredly take it on the chin tax wise. Guaranteed.

I see that not even one rw has the balls to reply to this.

He's not the president and there's no budget.

Bullshit.

Ask the Rs why they remove all the details and only allow the vote on the bottom line.

Its called lying to America about the president's budget.

Under Romney:

If you are in the middle class, they would go up.

If you are a gazillionaire, they would go down.
