I have no way of determining whether my taxes would go up or down under Romney. I know he wants to lower rates. He also wants to get rid of credits and deductions and refuses to say which ones.
In a wide-ranging interview with Time Magazine, Mitt Romney declined to say which deductions he would eliminate from the tax code in order to make his plan to cut tax rates across the board revenue-neutral.

If I assume the worst - that he'll get rid of all deductions, credits, and exemptions - even with a lowering of the rates by 20%, my income tax liability jumps from $10200 under Obama to $14200 under Romney.

So am I supposed to vote for the guy because maybe he won't raise my taxes in order to give tax breaks to himself?

EDIT: I would also like to add that I"ve been paying taxes for 18 years, and during that time have had no children. My taxes during that period went - in part - to pay for tax credits for people who have children. Now I have a child, and I'll be damned if I don't get the same prefferential tax treatment I helped to fund for others.

We know your taxes personally won't change, because they don't tax welfare and food stamps! :eusa_whistle:

And if someone showed you in a clear and concise manner, you'd ignore it or call it lies. Unless of course it was bad for Romney then you'd accept it.

Hack.

I thought the left wasn't worried about taxes. You have to realize a couple of things though, Romney won't force America to become a little Europe and he won't hamstring businesses with useless regulations and he probably doesn't think corporations and banks are evil. That translates to bad news for socialists and most likely an economic upturn and that usually means no tax increases.

Well, he quite CLEARLY said last night he would not raise taxes on the middle class. are all liberals deaf or what?

Obama has created jobs and this country is way better off than it was when the republicans handed it over.

We can see what obama is doing.

to understand the choice between the two romeny needs to tell us EXACTLY what is is he will do.

why does he keep refusing to tell us his plan?

You know one thing for sure, or you should, if Obama get Re-elected his Policies will inevitably mean higher taxes for us all.

You're taxes never change brother, because, well - you refuse to work and support yourself. So, no worries for you!

He will do the same thing as Obamas been doing but cant get elected by saying so?

He knows what he will do but knows the American people wont like it?

Actually, this is what's known as "projecting". It's seeing your own faults in someone else. See, it's Obama who knows what he's going to do, but know the American people will hate it. That's why he has lied above everything he's ever done.

Like the fact that they knew Solyndra would go bankrupt, but handed them $50 billion of tax payer money anyway

Like the fact that he knew Obamacare would cost $1 trillion more (you read that right) than he told the American people about

Like the fact that he whispered to Russian leaders Demitri Medvedev and Vladimir Putin that he would give them everything they wanted if the would just wait until after his second election campaign (why won't you tell the American people your plans before the campaign Barack?!?!).

Like the fact that he is a die hard marxist (if you believe so strongly in it, why are you so ashamed of it Barack?)

Because Gov. Romney has not specified how he would increase the tax base, it is impossible to determine how the plan would affect federal tax revenues or the distribution of the tax burden. TPC has analyzed instead the effects of the specified proposals in the Romney plan. These estimates provide a guide as to how much the base broadening would need to raise taxes in different income groups to achieve the plan’s targets.

He has no plan.

hes waiting to be told what to do by the koch brothers?

He has a plan - it's called doing the exact opposite of what Barack Obama has done, because Barack Obama has brought us failure (highest period of +8% unemployment in US history), misery (highest gas prices in US history), and collapse (highest debt in US history).

In short, the Romney plan is cut government, cut taxes, empower the people. In shoter, freedom and a free market! The things America were found on and flourished under. Barack can go back to his job as a "community organizer" trying to convince people that it's someone else's fault they failed and that marxism is the solution...

I wasn't looking for talking points slogans, I wanted to be able to figure out how Romney as President would actually impact me.
