You say that our policy toward Cuba over the last fifty years has failed. My question for you is: if that policy had worked what would Cuba look like today? Are the goals of your new policy exactly the same as the old policy? If so when will you tell us what steps you will take to reach these goals? Have those steps been defined? How are you going to break it to Raul and Fidel that our main goal is to remove them from power? Will you be as effective in Cuba as you have been in Syria?

If youre too busy to answer maybe the people on this board can fill in the blanks.

The policy is exactly the same. The US wants to run Cuba. Foreign policy doesn't change.

The boohooing over Batista is hysterical.

I love the pretense of people that give a damn about Cuba. It's cute.

The embargo was supposed to cause the people of Cuba to rise up against their government by blaming the Cuban government for the poor economic conditions on the island. It failed because the Cuban Government reversed the role and blamed the poor economic conditions on the American embargo. Now if the embargo is lifted the Cuban government cannot blame the poor economic conditions on the Americans anymore only themselves.

Uh.....the only people not going to Cuba are the Americans. Everybody else goes to Cuba.

But, it will be the same results as with the other islands. The US is going to push for the people of Cuba to perform low wage labor for a bunch of bullshit and then call it a success story in the name of capitalism and all that shit.

Your question would be far simpler if it was a statement.

Which should have been:

Mr President...you're responsible for everything bad that's happened in Cuba and Syria

Does anyone believe that the embargo has worked? Those who believe that two brothers, Raul and Fidel Castro actually run the island might, but those folks don't seem to realize that there is a vast apparatus in place that oppresses the Cuban people. Simply removing the Castro brothers will not improve the plight of the Cubans. The exposure and condemnation of the Cuban system will, indeed, improve the lot of the average Cuban.

Sunlight, they say, is the best disinfectant. Pouring American capital, influence and yes, culture into Cuba will dismantle the Cuban apparatus of oppression soon enough. But that won't happen if we continue to keep the island at arms length.

What was that oppression again?

Freedom to travel. Freedom to earn a living. Freedom to access due process under law.

Do you believe that the Cuban people live under some weird form of Jeffersonian democracy, or do you think the system in Cuba is, in fact, a repressive system?

Have you sent it to the White House or are you too big of a pussy?

Let us know if your get an answer.

Asking people here to answer is idiotic as half of them are Teatards.

Cuba has one of the best health care systems in the world and one of the highest literacy rates.

Your intention of going into Cuba is simply to force them into what you view as libertopia.

I have a question for the President.

To my knowledge, the President doesn't post on this board

Are you suggesting that Cuba would be better off without diplomatic relations with the United States? Are you suggesting that we should continue to hold Cuba at arms length for their own good?

Are you suggesting freedom=capitalism?

I'm suggesting freedom =freedom. Whether the Cubans want to impart a measure of Socialism in the American mold or the European mold, it makes little difference. Freedom comes from being released from oppression.

Yet, you can't accurately show me oppression.

I understand that a lot of people are scared of this island. They are really angry that the mob got kicked out to begin with. But, if you listen to the interviews with Castro he will tell you that they went in with a huge list of items to be accomplished and many of them were accomplished and many of them were not and some were flat out naive.

Castro has said that at the time of the revolution they believed in Communism and that the Soviet Union was all about brotherly love and what they found out was that the Soviet Union really wanted was Cuba to be a sugar plantation.

Incidentally, that is exactly what the US wants.

Thus far, people have demonstrated that they are upset with Cuba because Cuba doesn't want to be exploited.

Something about each nation-state being sovereign.

So, we can cut the shit on spreading democracy. Clearly we do not.

If I thought you were serious I'd award you six Katyushas. If Bebe can't get answers from the MinC how would you expect me to?

as mentioned, the question is for the board, not the POTUS.

trying to get a RW'r to pat you on the ass del?

i don't see anything wrong with Cuba being our sugar plantation. Saudi Arabia is/ was our gas station. They'll get paid for the sugar just like Saudi got billions for their oil.
