However, your gripe isn't with conservatism(however ambiguous the term is), it is with government.
More so, the real problem is with accuracy in media, and how it is merely a propaganda arm of the government..

Libertarians are pro individual freedom when it comes to everything.

So in free market libertarian is more free market than conservative. No welfare obviously. Minimum government. NO job creation. No bailout. Even lower tax.

If government is a shop, libertarians expect government to be a shop that sells at costs. Ideal or not, I see this as unrealistic. So most countries are not libertarian.

When it comes to social issue, libertarians also consistently favor individual freedom.

I tend to be somewhere in the middle. It should be free to the market. However, if some countries want to tax it or criminalize it, saying that they don't have right to do so would violate a very important libertarian principle, namely, right to associate with people you like. Forming a country and society is a quasi libertarian right. Imagine if a group of people buy an island and all agree wanting to implement democracy/communism/shariah? Should that be okay? If every one agree I am sure libertarian would say yes.

The way it works in US is good enough. Some states allow ganja. Some state don't.

Well, countries are not build exactly like that, but in the future, it'll get closer and closer to that. If we want to go extreme, no body would own land because no body really produce it right?

The reason why libertarian government so much is because now government have so much bargaining position compared to individuals. US government can tax you 30% and there is nothing you can do except paying or not having income.

However, as more and more countries compete with US, you start having choices. Corporate tax can't be too high lest people will simply incorporate overseas at tax haven. Many high paying jobs, like programmers, can be done remotely. Bitcoins also make things difficult for government to tax anything. So I do not see government power as something totally menacing anymore. It's more of a wave I can ride. I don't have to die being buried to it.
