I don't understand why

so many people in America think that Entitlements are so good for the people.

All entitlements do is control the people.
You have to follow the rules that the Government sets up, in order to get them.

Welfare rules, you must be single. The more children you have the more you receive in monthly benefits.

SSI - you receive a set amount of money each month and the adjustment raise is so small that all it does, is go toward your payment of Medicare insurance rise in your premiums.
Thus, you are stuck at at a continual amount of monthly payment.
If you work to try and help pay the rising cost of bills, you are punished by Government taking away you SSI for each dollar amount you earn.

This is not freedom from Government. You become the slave to the rules of the entitlement programs.

If we had a system like Chile where you have your SSI in a private account and a guarantee if the market went down you would still be locked in to the benefits accumulated, this is much better. You would also get more than the government bonds do right now.
You can then have your monthly amount to use each month.
You would be able to withdraw more for emergencies if needed.
You would be able to have the funds transfered over to your spouse or your children after you die.
You could also work if you wanted to, or needed to, without Government taking away your monthly checks.

I don't understand why…so many people in America think that Entitlements are so good for the people.

Public assistance programs are good for children, such as those in foster care, they’re good for the disabled, the elderly, and those incapacitated or those otherwise temporarily out of work.

Ignorance nonsense – there are public assistance programs such as Food Stamps, TANF, and Medicaid for married couples as well.

Incorrect.

SSI recipients are eligible for their state’s Medicaid program, they pay nothing out of their monthly benefit.

SSI is for disabled Americans, who are not able to work and are not eligible for SSD, as they’ve not worked 40 qualifying quarters.

You don’t understand because you’re ignorant; based on you post you only know conservative dogma and the misinformation perpetuated by the right.

SSI is for Seniors
SSDI and SSID;
The main difference between Social Security Disability (SSD, or SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is the fact that SSD is available to workers who have accumulated a sufficient number of work credits, while SSI disability benefits are available to low-income individuals who have either never worked or who haven't earned enough work credits to qualify for SSD.

While many people don't distinguish between SSI (Supplemental Security Income) and SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance), they are two completely different governmental programs. While both programs are overseen and managed by the Social Security Administration, and medical eligibility is determined in the same manner for both programs, there are distinct differences between the two.

For fucks sake!

Please, nutters. Consider the facts. Consider the motives.

Why in the FUCK would a ruthless Chicago thug politician like Obama........knowing that he can finish his nefarious plan to destroy America ONLY if re-elected.......do something so stupid as to end the work requirement for welfare recipients during a close election battle AND then deny it with every fiber of his being?

What disease do you have that allows you to think with such clear inconsistencies?

It is really fucking stupid.

My father paid into social security his whole working life and died at the age of 58. It was like giving money to the government with no return for his investment. My mother drew social security in her own right as she paid into it her working life also. She died a year after beginning to collect social security so she never recouped much of the money she had paid in. Seems like the government has the advantage.

There is a place for entitlements for in this country, however, becoming dependent on the government is not a good thing. It promotes and encourages people to not to try to better their lives. Everybody wants to suck on the sow's teat but nobody wants to work to feed the sow. We borrow money from China to continue unemployment check payments for up to two years for people that are out of work. On one hand it's a good thing to be so generous but on the other it takes the urgency out of the need for people to go to work. People can make as much on unemployment as they can working a minimum wage job so there is no driving desire for people to seek rapid employment. Everybody wants the free ride. It's going to be the downfall of America. There are generations of people on welfare. Where does the circle get broken?

It is not ending the work requirements. It is the ability for the states to change the work requirements and make them less strict.
It is changing the law that congress did in 1996 without congress being involved that should not be happening.

Wouldn't it have been a good thing for you BBD, if you Dad's and your Mom's SS was able to have been given to you and your siblings to go towards your own SSI?
My Dad died when he was 50. If he would have been able to give it to my Mom, it would have helped her a great deal. Then if she had anything left she could have given it over to me.

Instead we have Congress robbing the surplus from us for their own pet projects.
Now there isn't any more surplus left.
Every single one of these entitlements needs to be reformed.

For some, it's like living with their parents. They like it as long as someone provides for them and they don't have to do anything other than follow the rules. I think a lot of people actually make whatever changes are necessary in order to qualify for aid. Having more children seems to be the number one choice. Funny that they never know who the father is, or claim not to, so the state can't go after 'daddy' for child support. In many cases, I know that the fathers live with the mothers, but they don't mention that at the welfare office. Some of the fathers actually work, yet live off the tax payers so the money they make can be used for more fun things.

We do need a new system. I think making the able bodied people work is a must. There are plenty of jobs the city can't afford to hire people for and we could ensure that welfare recipients keep their dignity. I'm sure they feel awful taking money for doing nothing in return. They must feel so grateful to all the tax payers who work hard and have their money confiscated by government. They'd ease their guilt if they could pay us back somehow. Okay, enough sarcasm.

We shouldn't allow people to collect SS or disability if they never paid into the system. Obama's aunt comes to mind since she's been living on the doles for years and we will support her the rest of her life, even though she is here illegally, like Obama's uncle.
