I am going by what an Air Force General told Congress during it's investigation. He said a mission would have required at least two refueling. Keep in mind, the CIA Commander never requested an F-16.

Kris Paronto admits the never hear the CIA Chief use the words, "stand down." All he has is hearsay from Tiegen telling him what the Chief supposedly said. Teigen says there were four men there when the Chief said "stand down." Three say the Chief never said it.

The CIA Chief decided to evacuate the CIA Annex when the mortar attack killed Ty Woods and Glen Doherty. He contacted the Libyan Shield, which was standing by. LS provided 50 gun trucks to escort the Americans to the Benghazi airport, where the Libyan Air Force had air transportation waiting to fly them to Tripoli.
