2. Openly protest
3. Contact your state assemblyman
4. Run for political office
5. Contribute to organizations that fight the bill

How has your citizenship been affected?

Because there are people now in NY that can exercise thier 2nd amendment rights in a way I cannot. They have the same clean background I do, with the only difference being

1) They owned it before the bill was passed
2) They are an employee of the state government

there is always a different status between certain people when something is grandfathered in... whether its ownership of something or land use or building materials used, etc.

Usually it involves property, and the grandfathering is due to possible unjust burden by way of expenses to rectify the new law.

This however involves a right enshrined in the consitution. Also most grandfathering is to protect those with a existing condition, not to screw over the people now burdened by the new law. This law does the latter.

Instead of entering into the discussion of how we keep war weapons out of the hands of crazies, you absolutists went for doing nothing at all. What is the real ratio between ACCIDENTAL shootings of a family member vs. shootings of an intruder? That is the ratio you need to see, and I would guess it is much much closer, or even in favor of the intruder getting shot.

You also neglect to count the times having a gun prevented a shooting or injury from happening.
