CREDIT CARD???? lol

One lady this week was upset because she needs a hot water tank and had to wait until pay day to buy one because she has no credit card for emergencies

Then another woman she had a $300 parking ticket and had to pay it out of her check because she don't have a credit to pay it at another time.

If you live in a house or drive a car and have no credit card you only hurting yourself lol

They may not own the House or car... The bank might carry the note which mean their credit might be tied up in those bills.

I have no credit cards and own my own stuff and keep cash stashed away but most people don't live that way...

Have you run a credit check to see if they own or lease their house and car? As to credit cards they are only slightly less suicidal than payday loans.

Not if you use them like a normal person

Given the fact that credit card companies are constantly trying to increase their customer base, is it just possible that some people wisely choose NOT to have credit cards, in order to enforce financial discipline on themselves, to wit, "If I don't have the money to buy it, I won't buy it." The occasional inconvenience occurs (burst water tank, etc), but all in all it is a good way of controlling purchasing behavior.

I also own my own stuff, but I have one credit and one debit card. The debit card gives me at least a $30 a month dividend if I use it 20 times and the other gives me from 2% to 4% discount on everything I charge to it. The debit card is with my credit union and the other card is on autopay and I haven't paid any interest in at least 15 years. It is a matter of convenience for me.

I've never had a credit card, ever.

A few times I thought it might be handy to have so I applied and was turned down for lack of credit history.

Well no shit, I said --- that's why I want a credit card.

"Nope" they said, "can't build your credit if you don't already have it".

I realized at that point I was dealing with psychotics and walked away, briskly.

I don't have a credit card and I own a couple of cars and a house. I have owned a house for 15 years. It is mortgaged but I have accrued a good deal of equity, and I have paid for my cars., I bought my house in my early 30s.

Maybe the reason you don't have a car and a house is because you have been loose with credit card use. Just the other day you were bitching about having too much debt.

You ever think of filing bankruptcy to lose some of that debt? God knows you don't have any assets to lose.

My debt is over on 6/30 and then I can dance naked at 3am in the morning

Wow, that is consistent with your other "psychotic" comments. So obviously you never dated girls. A credit card would be necessary if you go to a nice restaurant for example.

For the last four decades I -- and dates --- went to nice restaurants in 31 states and Canada on expense accounts. NONE of which ever involved a credit card.

I can remember a time way back when you needed one to rent a car in most places. We got around that with cash deposits. And they don't do that any more anyway.

Let's face it -- there's all kinds of ways to handle money without intentionally spending some that you don't have and then paying a premium for having done it. I've never been in debt in my life.

It's called spending money you don't have at the moment

Exactly. And why would you ever want to do that. All that does is tie you down in the future.

If I'm able to pay it off in a month what does it matter?

What does it matter?

Diga me this --- in what realm does "in a month" (or "in 90 days", or "in six moths" or "mañana") lie? Past, present or future?

If (c)---- can you predict the future?

And what happens if you can't?

Guess who knows exactly what happens if you can't.
----- Credit card companies. Right down to a hundredth of a percent.

I'm surprised at the number of people who have no checking account
