It's comical and sad...

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Why did Obama think raising the debt ceiling under Bush would be catastrophic... but it's okay now? - Yahoo! Answers

Obama is clearly wrong. Ronald Reagan taught us that deficits didn't matter during the Bush administration but do matter during Obama's; speaking of hypocrisy.

protest vote is one thing.

ACTUALLY voting to go over the edge is yet another.

Imagine my suprise that some of you cant grasp that?

Now why were all you assholes JUST FINE with Bush Ballooning our debt and lieing us into wars?

Hmmm, didn't this get dredged up the last time we had this "discussion" over raising the debt ceiling?

Both parties have played political football with the debt ceiling but only one party actually held hostages over it...and got our credit rating downgraded resulting in $1.3 BILLION dollars in extra borrowing costs. That party was the GOP.

Well it's battle royal that's gearing up right now over the debt limit. One side wants to raise the debt limit and spend, spend, spend. The other wants a cap on the debt limit and cut, cut, cut.

Which one do we need?

The answer is obvious.

So, you think we should vote to NOT pay our bills.

How do you the world economy would react to that vote?

Dope.

Course correction of fiscal policy takes time. We didn't get here in a day and we should not try to get out of it in a day. It is not like religion where you can just wake up one morning and everything is different.
