Hypocrisy within the modern Christian Community

Being Christan doesn't make you less human or less flawed. Your op seems to imply Christians are on a whole, less tolerant, or should because they follow christs teachings be held to a higher standard than others. I'm sure most Christians strive to lead a Christain life, but it's impossible to be perfect like Christ, it doesn't make them hypocrites to try and fail.

To be tolerant does not mean you need to be perfect. It's just hypocritical to wish death on someone or chastise someone racially and then have the audacity to call yourself a christian and then use the excuse "well I'm human."

I dont want muslims to die. I cant speak for anyone else. Id rather see them come to Christ and repent. Just like I want to see everyone do that.

Repent for what?

Muslims show more respect for Jesus than Christians do. I've never heard a Christian say, upon mentioning the name of Jesus "Peace be upon him." In the Qur'an there is an entire chapter dedicated to Mary mother of Jesus.
All good questions and points in your original op and what some others have said like AmyNation....

but please don't take all of the stuff said on this board personally, I am a Christian and am bashed and thought of as evil by most all other Christians on the right side of the political aisle on this board....it's not just Muslims they hate and say awful things about....and group together as one lump sum of evil....God knows who and what they are....

I wouldn't worry about it, when judgement day comes, they will be judged as the people in the "Sheep and the goats" parable that you quoted says people will be judged, so will I and so will you....the truth about us all will be an open book, nothing will be hidden when we are judged.

Being human is not an excuse to maintain contradictory beliefs.

being a blowhard on a messageboard is not an excuse to judge others.

I'm not judging the individual, I'm making an observation.

Can you demonstrate how its not hypocritical to proclaim a christian faith but display intolerance of others?

i never said it was not hypocritical.

reading for comprehension would be a plus.

Their sins. Just like Christians need to repent of their sins.

Christians don't need to ask for Peace to be upon Christ because He is the Prince of Peace. The Blessing of Peace comes from Him. It doesnt need to flow to Him. He gives us peace through the Atonement. He forgives us of our sins and helps us overcome those sins.

It's through Him that we are healed both physically and Spiritually.

Have you forgotten? I'm an evil commie, socialist, baby killer, Marxist, blood sucking, entitled, moocher, money robbing, liberal Democrat....

I'm certain I left out a few....

I notice that there are many Christians who profess their love for Christ but they have a tendency to not extend their compassion towards others, most specifically, their Abrahamic neighbors, Muslims. But more importantly, I see a lot of Christians both online and offline that have a tendency to criticize others but they themselves are not doing what they're supposed to (as far as Christianity is concerned). A good example is Ted Haggard who openly opposed homosexuality but it was found out that he himself was homosexual. Or the so-called "good Christians" who professed their belief in Jesus as their Lord and Savior but castrated and hung blacks? In the Bible Jesus said:

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.' " (Matthew 7:21-23)

Its amazing that there are Christians who will bad mouth Islam yet profess to be Christian, and upon asking why are they bad mouthing a faith, most will say "its free speech." But its not free speech that I'm concerned about its about professing a belief in a tolerant philosophy such as the one Jesus believed in yet their speech is so intolerant towards others. So my question to that is what justifies intolerant speech or intolerant belief? Is it the Constitution? Is it because your American?

How does one reconcile intolerant speech with their religious beliefs? How can you be for Christ who spoke about justice, compassion, and love, yet your speech towards others contradicts what Jesus taught?
Good question. I truthfully cannot answer. I have been convicted by the truth from reading your post and have to admit that you are correct. Thank you. I just feel I have to defend my self against others who post.

It is a good question. You are one of them. You called me a son of satan for absolutely no reason. Learn to be like your Christ

The only way to know whether Jesus is who He claimed to be is the same way Peter did.

It always amazes me that atheists think they understand the teachings of Christ. Then they complain when someone else doesn't live up p to the standards they think Christians should have. Can anyone explain that to me without being hypocritical?

Let us start with the actual example of Jesus and his tolerance.

Mathew 23:15 said:
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
Woe unto you, [ye] blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
[Ye] fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

Great example of tolerance there.

Luke 11:42-46 said:
But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over [them] are not aware [of them].
Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.
And he said, Woe unto you also, [ye] lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

It seems that being a Christian isn't actually about what you think it is. Maybe you should do a little studying before you start condemning people.

Straight from the mouth of Isa.

John 8:44 said:
Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

I respect your beliefs. But I don't believe in his divinity

You just proved the point that you can't respect someone's beliefs. And it's funny how you're saying Jesus's name in Arabic as if I'm an immigrant. I'm born in the USA madman

Point out where the Bible says anything about respecting any beliefs but those of God.

That's your job. I'm not Christian. Either way if you're gonna rant don't quote my posts talk to other people

I've heard lots of Christians say they are supposed to respect people's beliefs, maybe avatar can tell us he's more informed on Christianity than you
