so they have the McCain funeral ceremony on
extravagant/long/singing/words of ''immortality-heaven-god/etc
I say put me in the cheapest box and/or throw me in a river
humans ''have'' to grieve ....?? do they?
I go to wakes to pay my respects/etc
but when my parents died I didn't need a wake or funeral--but we had them

Funerals are more for the living than they are for the dead. They give closure to the friends and family who lost their loved one.

That being said, I want to have done to me what was done on my first ship. There was a Navy retiree who asked to have his ashes dumped in a burial at sea over in the Med, and my ship got picked for the honors. Crossing over the Atlantic was an interesting experience, because for the whole time we had that person's ashes onboard, there was unexplained power outages, and even one small fire. Lots of people thought his ghost was haunting us while we carried his ashes.

Well my family has not had a "Lay out" in three Generations, why? We look at the fact that when we are born we rate about a short mention in the Newpapers and end of life we should not have to have much more. Also we are born naked and leave with very little else, and the cost is stupid.

they are having a celebration of life for me

while i become a cadaver for the medical school

what about these burial vaults/etc to protect the casket??!!!
extra $$$$ for a dead person...?? they are dead!
I looked at a burial brochure once and they had all kinds of crap to sell

o--t
they are having a celebration of life for me

while i become a cadaver for the medical school
that reminds me--I also am having my body donated
I forgot I put that down when I got my license

i was a complete organ donor but once i caught the cancer the donation program ends

so i went through USD medical school

have some forms you fill out

and kin that approve

then it is pretty basic

Yes, me too.

Whatever they need, they can take.

I won't be using the parts anymore.

I won't be using the parts anymore ...

what if they decide your parts would be better for them than keeping you alive ... left to motor vehicle, I neglected to be a donating member.

That's why a few of my family members have done cremation when they died. Cheaper and less hasle.
