He always shows us why Communism/Socialism is always detrimental and leads to totalitarianism!

Chavez to PRIVATE Venezuelan banks: "Make horrible loans to desperate people in an industry that is hurting, giving them bottom-level rates, where you- the banks- make NOTHING (that is if the borrowers actually pay), and bound to lose so much money you will need a bailout (which will lead to nationalization anyways) otherwise like an old-school gangster I will take-over your private business, steal your bank's money and assets, raid your private personal bank accounts, cease your property, put you in prison, run your name through the mud, attack your family and leave you penniless and broken!"

Yep Comrade Chavez you don't disappoint!

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warned private banks on Sunday that he will consider nationalizing any that refuse to finance agricultural projects promoted by his government.

Banks are required by law in Venezuela to provide at least 10 percent of their lending to finance government development projects.

“The private banks that do not comply with the constitution and their duty, well, I do not have any problem nationalizing them,” Chavez said during his weekly radio and television program. “We must ensure the constitution and laws are complied with!”

Chavez charged that the rules aren’t being followed by some of Venezuela’s biggest private banks — Banesco, Banco Mercantil and Banco Provincial, which is controlled by Spain’s Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria.

Chavez singled out the president of Banesco, Juan Carlos Escotet, ordering him to lend more to Venezuela’s cash-strapped farmers.

“If you cannot do it, give me your bank,” Chavez said, prompting applause from a crowd of government officials and supporters.

He says follow the law. The Fascist is making laws as he goes! Making banks public utilities, are you fucking kidding me!
A bill approved last year by Chavez’s allies in the National Assembly describes banking as a “public service” and gives the government the authority to declare banks to be of “public utility,” which paves the way for state nationalizations.

He already controls over a 1/4 of the Venezuelan banks why doesn't he just bankroll it himself? Maybe because he ran those banks into the ground!
The government already seized control of about a dozen banks in recent years, accusing them of causing financial problems and violating banking rules.

Chavez’s government controls about 28 percent of Venezuela’s banking sector.

Zimbabwe used to be the breadbasket of Africa! It was the top economy in Africa. It had a diversified economy, a well-developed infrastructure, and an advanced financial sector. It was the country people pointed to and said there can be a success on the African continent. But then Mugbe said time for redistribution in the name of justice for the poor. Land and businesses were outright stolen! In the name of redistribution, hyper-inflation gripped the national and the once "successful" African nation is now amongst it's poorest (that's like being the shortest midget!).

This is exactly what Chavez is doing. Despite all the oil reserves his country has, Venezuela remains at the bottom of Latin America economies. What don't people learn that socialism doesn't work?

“We must advance quicker with the recuperation of land,” Chavez said, stressing that the government must make more land available to the poor.

The government says it is redistributing large estates and other land that is not adequately used. Critics contend the land seizures have hurt productive farms, thus cutting agricultural production and forcing the oil-exporting country to boost food imports.

What to Do About a Coup

Nevertheless, Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro simply announced this past weekend that ailing and absent President Hugo Chávez can start his new term without being sworn in at all.

This is not the first time the Obama administration has been in this position -- it is the third. And the first two times, they got it wrong.

In July 2009, Honduras had a constitutional crisis. Then-President Manuel Zelaya attempted to hold an illegal referendum to gain an illegal third term. The other arms of the Honduran democratic establishment -- Parliament, the Supreme Court, the Human Rights Council, the Army, and the Catholic Church -- came together to defend the Constitution, remove Zelaya and go forward with previously scheduled elections, minus Zelaya.

I am glad this scumbag will be dead or incapacited in a short while. He has don't more to fuck up Latin America then just about anyone. I just hope his replacement isn't a bigger red bastard. I mean that happened in the USSR Lennin started the revolution and died early on and the much more brutal and repressive Stalin took over.
