Jobless claims rose again - the 4th rise in the last 5 weeks.

Unemployment figures are now estimated to show a 10.1% national jobless rate in the coming week.

This is now the Obama Economy folks - and it ain't pretty...

_____

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The number of newly laid-off workers filing initial claims for jobless benefits rose unexpectedly last week, evidence that layoffs are continuing and jobs remain scarce.

The rise is the fourth in the past five weeks. Most economists hoped that claims would resume a downward trend that was evident in the fall and early winter.

...More than 5.8 million people were receiving extended benefits in the week ended Jan. 16, the latest data available, up from about 5.6 million the previous week. The extended benefit data isn't seasonally adjusted and is volatile from week to week.

Still, the increasing number of people claiming extended unemployment insurance indicates hiring hasn't picked up. That leaves people out of work for longer and longer periods of time.

Ohh it is working out as good as the hopey changey thing did for the right with Bush.

didn't want to dissapoint Slack :D

Obama is going into his second year, and the Democrat dominated Congress is going into its 4th year of control and some in here still persist in calling this Bush or the Republicans' economy?

Obama and the Democrats spent $800 BILLION in a so-called "stimulus" bill that has been a complete failure.

No accountability for that, eh?

How...predictable! :eusa_whistle:

how about admitting the mess has been made by both sides?

Of course, over a year after he has taken office, the constant whining and blaming 'the previous administration' is making obama look very weak.

If this is the precedent, then expect the next president to blame obamalama for at least a year and a half for all his problems.

He couldn't contain his desire to balme booosh even during his prayer breakfast speech this morning.

What a whiney bucket.............he would be better off to grow a pair of balls and accept the fact he has been president for over a year, and the economy is his.
Notice, I didn't say he needs to grow up and accept responsibility, and stop acting like a spoiled little boy. I figured you would accuse me of racisim........

Speaking of failing memories, whatever happened to "pass this bloated spend-a-thon bill NOW, and we'll keep unemployment below 8%"?

:eusa_whistle:

You forget that the bill he was talking about at the time was bigger than the one that got passed.

They trimmed it down to please the Rs who still capped on it and then posed for photo shots handing out big checks.

Exactly - that 8% claim should be played repeatedly in the media - and yet, it is all but forgotten, like so many other absurdities to have come from this Obama White House.

$800 billion dollars is gone for NOTHING. Union payoffs, special interest favortism, state programs that are now pleading for more...and more job losses.

How moronic can you be?

Your answer to $800 billion dollars being totally wasted is to express the idea that we should have wasted MORE????

What an intellectual abortion...

To please the republican minority majority in order to get it passed?

The entire democratic caucus needs to grow a pair, so far they all appear to be castrated.
A super majority in BOTH houses and they still resort to blaming the evil republicans........

A fine demonstration of the inner workings of the two party system working to take advantage of the us taxpayers.

I forget nothing, including the following zillion dollar pork-laden omnibus spending bill.

Truth be told, Obamazombies like you are getting worse than the Bushbots ever could've hoped to be.
