How's Jim.

Jim is alive and well, and cranky as hell! He is home with me - still in a lot of pain - but much better than I had imagined! Yes, he did escape, he wanted a smoke, they said no - so he just got his little butt dressed and went outside! I understand 3 security gurads had him surrounded. And mind you, this was all because they wouldn't give him has pain medication as the doctor had written no order on his sheet! I understand a party was thrown on the 4th floor when we left!!

Too funny!
(Except the part about them not giving him his pain meds).

Glad to hear it!! But no pain medication ouch!!

Slam the staff time!

Tis why I never want to be in hospital. Lazy incompetent employees scare the hell outta me...

I mean come on, how long before Jim woke did someone have to check his chart for pain meds? Anyone with common sense would know it should be there, and Docs do get rushed and forget stuff. It was a matter of a phone call by the staff to correct this oversight before it became an issue. Even when it did become an issue, did they call the Doc?

Tell Jim I have a whole bottle of Percocet (from my c-section last month) he's welcome to have REAL CHEAP! They'll make him not-so-cranky! :clap1:

That's what I was thinking, about the phone call. Perhaps having my parents in the hospital so often, I think it's common knowledge. As Mr. P says, doctors forget, but that is no reason to suffer. Have the nurse call him/her, or whoever is on call right then.

Sorry for the pain, Jim. I'm just thankful you got released so quick and can obviously walk. :smoke: can be a good motivator!

So here's my story in a nutshell. Gonna have to make it fairly quick as my entire body feels like it's been beaten by baseball bats for the past 2 days. I'v actually got a bandaged hole in the very front of my neck where they made the incision to get to the back. I had that damn tube shoved down my throat while I was out and have counted at least 10 needle marks throughout my body.

All went well until my 'pharmacist' filled me with goodies prior to surgery and that was the last thing I remember before waking in recovery. The first thing I noticed, probably from all the IV's, was that I had to pee like I never had before. I asked for about a half an hour before they finally brought me a damn little bedpan/jar thingy! I told them that won't do as I can't go while in bed and can they please bring me to the bathroom. They refused and said they would get me a catheter. I then told them either the bathroom or I roll over and go on the floor. I was soon rolled into another room to use a bathroom.

A short while later throughout my grogginess I find myself in my room all alone. I remember them telling me if I needed anything to hit the nurse button. Well, since I couldn't swallow as a result of the pain, felt like I had a migraine and my back felt like it was actually just operated on! Imagine that! So I hit the button and nobody ever comes. Finally a nurse comes for the guy next to me and I plead with her. She say's she'll see what she can find out. Another comes and goes with the same story. Now an hour after I asked for pain meds my nurse comes in and said she doesn't think it's time yet. I tell her I'm in severe pain, and please, and if you can't please call my doctor. Another 15 minutes goes by and they are still ignoring me. I called my doctors office and told them this hospital sucks and I want to be disharged, she say's she'll page my doctor. I dress myself and now try to escape! I know I was cloudy and still sorta under the anasthesia, but I was in a lot of damn pain. So I heard them hop on the phones around the hospital and had security waiting for me at all the exits. I outsmarted them and found a secret exit and made it all the way outside and finally grubbed a smoke before the white jackets found me and escorted me back to my room.

Soon after my doc arrived, got me a few pain pills and allowed me to go home with a prescription.

I spent the entire night up in severe pain and can still barely swallow and my head feels like a 5,000lb weight on my neck. Good thing I listened to the medical people and left!

So now I am at Mom's, still with bandaged hole there that can't be removed until tomorrow. Even taking a deep breath feels like I've been shot in the chest. I tried lying down last night and it just hurt too damn much.

I may overmedicate myself so that I can finally get rid of this pain and get a few winks.

Sorry if none of this makes sense as I think I'm still a bit loopy and certainly in a lot of pain.

Seeya all soon!

Well, you still have our well-wishes...

Anyway, I'd send you some vicadin (sp?) if it were legal to send in the mail. Those percocet do nothing for me and after two hours are gone entirely from my system. I have a supercharged liver...

You'll be up and dancing in no time!

percocet make me very giddy. i am a lightweight for all drugs (except alcohol-its that indian blood and irish blood in me).

last month after Ben was born, they gave me percocet to take, and they gave me two pills at first. I didn't know the power of just one-never had them before, nor the # of mg in each one, so I took both. About 20 minutes later, I was high as a kite and giggling about everything. My mom comes in a while later and she can tell something isn't right. My 18yo sister Sam was with her. Sam asked what they gave me, and I said I think it was percocet. Sam looked like "Oh, that explains it". She then asked how many they gave me. I said two. My mom got this look on her face and said that even half of one for her made her loopy and they gave me two whole ones! So the nurse comes in to do vitals check and I told her that only one percocet was necessary next time. I don't think its a good idea to be like this with a newborn in my arms.
