Couldn't help but wonder, with all these left wingers who hate capitalism so much, how would these union folks be treated in far left, socialist/communist nations in other parts of the world? Nations where evil, greedy capitalism doesn't exist? Lets discuss:

Cuba- What if all the teachers in Havanna walked out and called in sick for a week to protest their work environment? Would the far left Cuban government be so kind?

China- What if all the teachers in Beijing walked out, refused to work, and demanded "rights" be given to them? Me thinks the Chinese wouldn't be discussing anything with them 10 days later. The far left government would have them back to teacher chip stick techniques in no time.

North Korea- Do we even need to ask what would happen if all Pyonyang's teachers walked out and refused to work?

Venezuela- How wouild Danny Glover and Sean Penn's beloved buddy Hugo Chavez handle it if all his teachers walked out and demanded rights? Not good.

Soviet Union- This far left nation had a very strict policy on not showing up to work. Guess what it was???

Vietnam- I just have a weird feeling that a Vietnamese teachers strike wouldn't end pretty. Just a guess.

Of course, some left wing socialist/communist places wouldn't be so violent. They'd just keep raising taxes on everyone to keep paying for unions. And the money will always be there. Just ask Greece. Or Spain. Or France. Or England. Their fiscal situation is so much more stable thanks to unions :)cuckoo: sarcasm).

So, yeah, I know capitalism is the evil, greedy, selfish, evil, corrupt, racist plot to make Bush, Cheney, Halliburtion, Blackwater, Murdoch, Beck, FoxNews, and of course me, very very very rich.

But I can't help but wonder how past heroes of the left....like Stalin, Lenin, Che, Pol Pot...and current ones like Castro, Chavez, Kim Jong Il, would treat a teacher walkout??? Probably SO MUCH BETTER than us evil capitalists do!!

We aren't a far left nation.

But thanks for equating teachers with communists, and yourself with dictators.

NO we are not. Not yet. But true, we are not a far left nation, far from it. Which is why 30,000 teachers are able to make falsified gov't documents to skip work for a week and protest, with no consequences. And I didnt equate ourselves with dictators, I compared and contrasted us to them. The only people calling US citizens dictators are the teachers who are calling the WI governor a dictator.

And you need to comprehend the reading before you post. I never equated teachers with commies.

I asked what would happen if teachers in far left communist or socialist nations did the same thing the WI teachers did?

Oh, and I forgot.....

Burma- The wonderful, communist nation of Burma, where they slaughter citizens for crimes such as....talking bad about the gov't. I'm sure a teacher's union strike would be well recieved!!!

In fact, I bet there are few places on Earth where a group of employee's whose earnings avg $89,500 where they can also strike and lie about illness to skip work.........then peacefully be allowed back to work as if nothing happened.

God Bless capitalism.

Hey, China is a communist nation and how many times have right wingers on this very board said we should be "more like China"?

Hey, China is a communist nation and how many times have right wingers on this very board said we should be "more like China"?

Um.............zero times?

We've said we have to compete with China. But not be more like them. They have no freedom of speech (Liberals want fairness doctrine). They slaughter their own people (Left wing nations like Cuba, USSR, N.K. have too). They force people to work in crap conditions for almost no pay (We have Dept of Labor to stop that). Their people aren't free to do shit. Especially protest in the streets, remember that tank? And how THAT ended? Thank God we don't have that in Madison. The unions are morons, and may get fired. But should never be treated violently.

But China is a far left nation that would kill people, with their army, if teachers unions did the same thing there as they do here. Thats why we need to move this country as far away from the left as possible.

Hey you left out LABOR LEADER/UNION ORGANIZER Lech Walesa's strikes in Poland in the 80's.

You remember, right? The ones that helped end the Cold War and break up the Soviet Union???

oops (I love that no matter where you put the pile of poop, bucs90 steps in it)

Yeah, the USSR's massive spending spree in an attempt to keep up with the military spending of the United "capitalist pigs" States had nothing to do with their collapse:cuckoo: Nor did the pure contrast in East/West Germany fuel any emotions in the people.

But I'm sure your college professor convinced you that it was a union leader in Poland that did it.

Or maybe you'd prefer: Collapse of Soviet Union

"The immediate cause of the Soviet collapse was economic, as the Soviet Union lost the arms race and international competition with the West. The United States was able to profit from its imperialist exploitation of other countries, while socialism could only lose economically in that competition."

Oops. Guess I was able to get that terd off my shoe, huh?

I think you might need some remedial 11th grade world history.

Both Communists and rightwing fascists hate independent labor unions. China won't tolerate them, and righwing south american dictators have a habit of killing labor leaders and imprisoning union members.

Why? Because independent labor unions have a long history of being a threat to both totalitarianism and to plutocracy.

Communists and Fascists don't tolerate Unions.

Countries like France, Germany, England, Ireland, Canada, Italy, Greece...well most modern industrialized Democratic nations do.

Which league are you guys in?

zero

China has no Unions. China has a death penalty. China is extremely favorable to Corporations while it craps on the rights of labor.

Heck..sounds like a Conservative's paradise.:clap2:

China has no unions. China is NOT extremely favorable to free-market capitalism and I do not support the death penalty. And you conveniently omitted that China has a strong centralized government that regulates near all aspects of society and is kinda a big fan of collectivism. Hardly a bastion of conservatism.

And when the heck was the last time you were in China?

Cause you kinda sound like you don't know what you are talking about. I was in China last year. And the year before that. And 2 years before that..and the year before that one. I was in Hong Kong before the Commies took over and after.

First off..the government isn't as Centralized as you think. In fact, it's far from it. That's part of the problem. The cities do things one way..and the country side does things another way. The little towns are as corrupt as hell. And exactly what do you think they regulate? Buildings? Food?:lol: Water safety?:lol::lol::lol::lol: ANYTHING??? Because..they DON'T!

That's the trouble with people that never leave their homes. They get their info from the idiot box.

"Right wing" South American dictators? You mean like Sean Penn and Danny Glover's buddy, the socialist Hugo Chavez of Venezuela? South American dictators are communist or socialist, just like the regime Brazil just swept into power.

Remember, right wing is about less regulation on the people, not more. You're confused.

You mean kind of like the massive spending off of the books by the Bush admin on two wars, one started on the basis of lies, while cutting taxes, especially for the very rich, here at home?

Bin Laden said that what he wanted to accomplish with his attack on the USA was the removal of US troops in Saudi Arabia, the pricing of oil to what he considered a fair price, $70 or more dollars a barrel, and to cause the US to overextend itself in the same manner as did the USSR.

With the help of George W. Bush's foriegn and domestic policies, he has accomplished all three objectivies.
