Go after the source? Movie studios? Or the vane self-important actors doing the actual roles? A studio has an army of lawyers ready for battle. An actor may have a PR representative. Want less violence in cinema, go after the weak links. Portray actors as amoral and greedy, making despicable movies for the money and to hell with the consequences, and you might have better luck.

Many actors exhibit multiple symptoms of mental illnesses common to celebrity. While some bad press is still press, a lot of it can easily overwhelm and dictate behavioural changes. If no one's willing to take on roles with a lot of gun play and other violence for fear of becomming the cinematic equivilent of Jeffrey Dahmer and having their brand recognized only as the guy who makes all those soul destroying movies showing grave indifference to the sanctity of life, I'd think less would be getting made.

Can't even watch commercial tv here any more without catching scene after scene of horrific violence. Previews during other non-violent shows are out of hand. Need better regulation about commercials and previews and extra warning and enforcement for violent content. Some kind of blacked out screen with text warning, "This program contains sufficient violence to give you this warning before it becomes viewable."

Or people can stop being giant wussies about this, and parents can control what their kids are exposed to.

and remember, HAN SHOT FIRST, and those FBI guys in ET had GUNS, not radios.

Buy a network and produce more family friendly programs that appeal to viewers and spounsors thus making the endeavor sustainable.

If all you can do is tell other more successful networks and businesses what they cannot do because you lack the ability to produce and sustain a better alternative ... Well, go screw yourself.
