This whole piece appears to be nothing but wishful thinking. It says the only way to “fix” the problem of the Gaza Strip is to get Israel, The Palestinian Authority, and Hamas to work together. It also calls for Hamas to give up its weapons.

Fat chance!

There’s no way Iran is going to allow its clients to ever seek peace with Israel. Never.

The biggest losers in all of this are the nearly two million people of Gaza, which is just twice the size of Washington, D.C. They live in terrible conditions, with an economy that has nearly ground to halt. As only a few hundred Palestinians, on average, are able to exit Gaza every day, unemployment has risen to one of the highest rates on earth—over 50 percent. Severe shortages of electricity and clean drinking water also plague Gaza—97 percent of the water in its aquifer is unfit for human consumption. Meanwhile, the people of southern Israel are routinely subject to rocket fire and the burning of their fields by incendiary kites.

Not only is the solution fantasy, the little you pasted is totally misleading. It's not only the general embargo by Egypt, Israel, and others -- the Palestinian Authority has shut them out. They WERE paying the electric bill for Gaza until the latest reconciliation talks fell apart.. PA refuses to support them anymore.

And the economy is in the crapper, but there is much development and affluence still living in Gaza. It's prime Mediterrean beach front with many high end resorts and restaurants. It's the price the citizens pay for backing an Iranian proxy army as their government. Iran is likely still getting funding to them, but it's hard to spend.

It is not Hamas who is keeping tourists out of Gaza. It is Israel who does not want them to have that income.

Could hardly wait for that one.

But how did I know it was coming?

The summary executions in the streets don't help tourism either. Or the rocket fire.
Israel doesn't care about stopping tourism. They care about stopping Iran and other countries loading up Hamas with weapons and military gear.

Yeah, yeah, and Israel won't let anybody in.

Palestinians in Gaza have better lives under the embargo than the Palestinians in Egyptian refugee camps. They COULD be a trade hub for that entire region. But they don't value prosperity or infrastructure as much as they value evicting Israel and catering to radical Jihadists.
They COULD be a trade hub for that entire region.
But Israel's blockade won't let that happen.

And the reason for Egypt's?

And the reason for Egypt's?

Or even the reason for the Palestinian Authority cutting back money and support to Gaza?

Don't think P.F. knows.

The EU is pouring 42 million euros into WB and Gaza. For general aid and improvements.

Yet Hamas is spending 250 million on manufacturing rockets, according to Liberman.

Ask him the reason for the blockade. There will be no answer; there never is.

The reason for the blockade is simple and clear - to keep Iran from sending massive amounts of weapons to HAMAS to use for attacks on Israel.

Purely self defense.
