Establish limits on how long they can serve as committee chairs and ranking members!

Think about it. If they no longer have the awesome power of their fought-for positions, why would they want to stay in office? No more special perks. No one kissing their butts for the favors they can give from their hight seats.

Maybe some of those who’ve served for decades will think it’s time to scurry to the lucrative lobbying positions they’ve been promised or to actually retire.

This idea with lots of links and graphs is Retirement from Congress may be driven by term limits on committee chairs @ Retirement from Congress may be driven by term limits on committee chairs

They have term limits already, it is called an election every two years.

longknife, thought provoking OP.

The issue is that the seats of power are given to those who raise the most money for the party.

The parties won't give up the money making to reduce individual's powers.
